Are you surprised or not surprised by Moore not getting drafted? Do you think that he has the skill set to succeed in the NFL?

I didn't think that he had first round talent or anything, but thought that he would at least be drafted in the later rounds. But the scouts didn't see the 'it" factor in him.

I'm not surprised at all. He's 5'11" (some teams who scouted him list him as 5'10") and weighs 190 pounds soaking wet. Also of note is that he is a lefty, which teams tend to shy away from because it requires you to essentially flip your entire offensive playbook AND requires you to put your premium tackle on the right side.

Idk, Colt McCoy put up similar QB #s in college. But he also had a lot more rushing yards and he's got more NFL size than Kellen Moore though neither of them are all that big. McCoy obviously played in a much tougher division. I make the comparison because I think Colt McCoy's a borderline NFL starter while I think Kellen Moore probably isn't even a career best backup. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, I'm no NFL scout obviously. But I think he'll stick on a team as a third string quarterback, maybe play as backup for a few years here and there. It'll be interesting to see.

I'm not surprised at all that he wasn't drafted. Expected not to be actually.

Then again, it won't surprise me if he makes someone's team. I could see him as a backup and future coach....kind of like Applewhite, but sligfhtly better at QB and maybe not as good of a coach. :)

Pretty huge difference in arm strength and pure athletic abilty there. They both have great anticipation and intangibles though.

I'm pulling for him to make a roster.

Brees has a thicker build, a stronger arm and better feet.

He won't be Brees but I think he could be a guy who can step in and fill in for a game or two.

Smart, from all accounts high character and puts in the work.

Well, no team drafted him, so it's an NFL consensus that he lacks the physical measurables to be a starting QB. Agree, he lacks Brees' arm strength, or even arm strength required to make all the NFL throws. He is the definition of "no ceiling"- all the productivity and intangibles you could want, yet physical limitations that can't be fixed. I hope he proves the league wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

He and Case Keenum were never going to be NFL players.

They both have teams.

May not mean much but it's not like people aren't interested all together.

I want to jump into my TV and strangle Berman and John Gruden. They seem to be incapable of understanding that there are reasons that teams win outside of the QB. Berman was making a big fuss about having the most "wins" of any QB in NCAA history. What noone told him is that the guy who had the record before him was Colt McCoy. Look where being a "winner" got him. And the guy before McCoy? David Greene.

McCoy is also on the BROWNS..

It doesn't surprise me.

He is not very big and his style of play fits the college game because he's really great at throwing it in-between the numbers. In the NFL, QB's have to be adept at throwing in-between and outside the numbers on the field. If you can't throw outside the numbers, scouts don't take you very seriously. It doesn't mean you can't play in the NFL, Mark Brunell couldn't throw outside the numbers very well and had a successful NFL career. Although he was a very good scrambler and Moore is not.

Thanks for answering everyone. He has his chance in Detroit to prove if he can fit in the NFL. It's as an Undrafted player but that's better than not having a chance at all.

Kellen Moore will play great ... for the Calgary Stampeders ...
