Kellen Moore on the utilizing all weapons on offense

Linehan ran the same plays over and over. Very predictable. One guy would be running curl routes. The other guy go routes and Witten over the middle. There was very little boot legs, play action and RPOs.

Moore is different. He runs a lot of presnap motion with the same play book. I'm assuming that was because he had to deal with Garrett/Linehan dictating to him the playbook of Garrett.

Since we have a new coach I don't think we'll have to worry about the same ole' boring stuff that Garrett/Linehan was running.

1. Again, Garrett had zero control over the play-book since 2014. MM has already said Moore has control and MM is a West-Coast guy anyways. Dallas runs the farthest thing from a WC.

2. Further, Moore is Linehan’s “student” and Linehan brought him over from Detroit and had him run the practice squads in Dallas, precisely because of this. The reason Dak even had success in the first place is because of Linehan, who tailored the offense completely to Dak’s skill-set. Dallas lacked play-action usage with Romo, whether Garrett or Linehan, the traditional drop-back was used for Romo all the time, while with Dak, they became a top 3 play action team. Moore simply built on this. To claim this was Garrett has zero basis in terms of what they ran.

3. Yes, Linehan was predictable, but Linehan and Moore were also limited by Dak’s limitations, meaning that is why they are also predictable. This offense has essentially eliminated the traditional drop back forth Dak and end if someone try and argue the modern NFL has moved away from it, it hasn’t in the manner that the Cowboys have no longer used it for Dak.

Despite Dallas’s success using play-action passes, it is hard to conceive of an offensive coordinator who wouldn’t like the ability to call plays based on a traditional three-step, five-step or seven-step drop. It is also hard to believe Moore would only call 30 of these types of plays out of 677 passes if everyone was comfortable Prescott could effectively execute a traditional three, five, or seven-step drop.

Facts are, when the Cowboys are normally in shot-gun with Dak they throw, whether with Linehan or Dak.
