Yeah and who knows….I didn’t see Terrence Steele starting two years ago as a rookie but he did but they at least gave him reps there. If he plays tackle he will be worked in slowly I believe. But I don’t believe tackle is the position they want this year for him. Hasn’t done it all camp. Really would be doing him a disservice throwing him to the wolves like that.
:hammer:....spot on and in respect of the CAP, it's now obvious that we're going to save $9 or $13m as we're going to have to cut poor Tyron's body.

Holy overreaction.

I think you're forgetting one thing. Our coaches continuing ability to not make adjustments when adversity calls for it. Combine that with injuries and front office ineptitude and fans are right to be concerned. Given the track record, can you blame them?

I really does hinge on Moore's play-calling and the O-line coaches ability to whip the healthy guys into shape and that doesn't count the penalty problem.

The cowboys don’t have to do anything. They have proven that. They already made the playoffs. Didn’t you hear Jerry? Lol

This team is so arrogant that they believe they already have smiths replacement on the team.
It’s sad to think all the Cowboys have to really do is win 8 games and remain in the playoff hunt. Jerry will continue to make a billion a season off of us fans. The Cowboys lucked into Dak/Parsons. They will always be in the hunt to win the East or get the 3rd wildcard. ESPN will keep opening there show about a 5th string receiver twisting his ankle.:omg:

You think they cut him next offseason? Or this year?

I dont think they can cut him whilst he's injured?? Next years CAP, doesnt look that bad (even though it's in deficit atm), it I read it correctly we only have to balance the CAP on the 1/6/23 so we'll wait until then.

I realize some are going to start shouting about having CAP left over, but in 2023 we can start signing contracted with the Bonus' with the CAP hits kicking in 2024 and onwards.

He is the future but I don’t think that future is now. They were working him slowly at guard….they’re just going to throw him at tackle after that? I don’t see it.
What is the next option? Ball? Switch Steele to left tackle? I don’t see them pulling someone off the couch to get them ready for week one.

Things seemed off about Tyron I've heard even before the injury, there was an ankle. That may have even contributed to the injury.
20 mil of cap space was saved for a reason, maybe this was it.

Tyler Smith is clearly the future at LT.

That doesn't help us right now.

Am I on the wrong track or does Eric Fisher on a one year deal for whatever he is looking for make way too much sense?

Has anyone seen him recently? Was he cooked or does he have another season left in him?

The time to call a guy like him or even Whitworth should be before Dak gets walloped from the blind side, not after.

Why do I get the vibe that the solution they go with is in house?

Why do I also get the vibe that the OL is gonna be musical chairs and band aids all season?

No, because: Steele and Ball (nor La'el for that matter) are/were LT's, they are all RT's. This is the one point I will agree with the FO....if Tyron was going to go down for longer than a couple of games we were always going to struggle.

Now we could of paid for a 'swing tackle' but by their nature they tend to be RT's who MAY be able to give you sub-par LT performance on a very limited number of snaps.

Ill agree with everyone and their outrage at the Jones IF we dont get Fisher or trade, but as we stood just 7 days ago Fisher probably not have signed (on the cheap) to play RT.

There's no time where the Jones family shines more than bullet biting time. Their desperation performance is top notch. #joeygalloway #roywilliams #insertbaseballqbhere

I mean it’s hard to say….I know what I’d do. I know what I think they’d do. I know what they should do. All three answers are different. Based on their actions? They wanted to work him in slowly at guard which they felt he was NFL ready to play now. He hasn’t taken a snap at left tackle….but he’s now NFL ready when they just said they don’t feel he is?

LT or LG, I just love his mentality and confidence.

We will probably see Tyler Smith get a lot of work at LT tonight. I think he has some tools too but this is where he has to be disciplined with his hands. He will face much faster quicker DEs in the NFL and he has to get his hands inside, which also involves getting his feet set. The other day Joe Thomas was one Sirius XM NFL network and he was talking about the hands and feet and how they work together. It was quality discussion for a change.

The problem is with him playing LT then McGovern moves to LG. McGovern seems to play better over on the right side.

So he is not playing tonight. Great. We don't get to see him out there until the regular season.

Preseason doesn't count, let him heal up rather than reaggravate the ankle.

And he has not practiced at LT at all during TC so very unlikely he would have had any reps at LT vs Seahawks anyway.

But it was an abbreviated preseason because of COVID, so Steele didn't get a whole lot of reps there before starting.
