This does not automatically indicate we take a FS at No. 27.

We could trade down. We could take our chance later in the draft, we could take our chance moving Ball to FS, we could take a chance with the other Hamlin on the roster or we can bring in a FS via a trade of FA.

Ken Hamlin indicates his run with Cowboys is over

Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports ifTwitter is to be believed, Ken Hamlin is no longer a Cowboy.

Hamlin made the announcement via his Twitter account:

"I would like to say to all of my fans that I appreciate all the love that you have showed me in Dallas. It was a good run..... Thanks"

A source indicated that a move would happen but nothing official has come from the team. After missing the first day of the off-season conditioning program on Monday, Hamlin had been working out at Valley Ranch every day since.

Hamlin was scheduled to make $5.596 million this year with $1.09 million guaranteed remaining on the contract he signed in 2008. Hamlin joined the Cowboys in 2007 on a one-year deal and made the Pro Bowl after picking off a career-high five passes and making 102 tackles.

A lot of flexibility and possibilities at both safety positions.

Michael Hamlin, Alan Ball, rookie safety and Sensabaugh will all be in the mix IMO.

While all of this is absolutely true, the most likely scenario is the cowboys will select a FS in rd 1.

Later Ken. Thanks for 1 good season and a couple of pedestrian ones.

If the Cowboys really love a player that will probably be around in the early to mid 2nd round (i.e. Nate Allen or even Morgan Burnett), and high rated players are off the board at #27 like Iupati, Thomas, Wilson, etc, I would hope that Dallas trades down and acquires more picks.

Anyone else find it funny that dc didn't "break" this story?

He's a friggin Twitter hound if ever there was one and he came up with that thread about Hamlin not being present the other day.

Schefter reporting on his Twitter about hamlins Twitter post. This report is all but official!!!!! Best move of the offseason by the boys so far. Hahaha.

Anyone think this means Dallas goes after one of Slates numerous sig-pics?

I think they've known for awhile that they wouldn't have him back in 2010. I doubt this changes their draft strategy much at all. FS was a position of need before today.

And I don't think this means Dallas will necessarily target only safeties at 27. They can still get one in the second or third round to compete with Michael Hamlin, and maybe Alan Ball.

Like Hoof said, thanks for one good season, Ken.

OJ Atogwe! Come on down!!!!!!

wow...could my man Flo be next?

I hope not. i like flo and hope they keep him on the team this year.

When romo threw the touchdown and didnt give up against green bay this year and adams went over and shook his hand....It pretty much summed up to me how much adams cares about the team and winning.
