I think it's time for me to start giving him some slack

he set a tone tonight

after that long Colston reception he sent homeboy flying

and I saw him lay another big hit on one of their backs

still would like for him to make more plays though (INTs, fumbles)

but his tackling seemed to pick up tonight

I would like for Ball and Hamlin to be our "coverage" safeties. Take Sense off the field.

...And this is coming from a Hamlin hater.

The guy doesn't cover anyone. He just kinda runs around doing nothing.

Just think if we have all 11 players on the field. We might hold the Saints to their lowest points scored all season.

;)

You can have him. They can do alot better IMO.

:rolleyes:he still just covers an area

I still don't know why you can't or refuse to understand that

Trust me. I'm fully aware how free safeties play almost exclusively zone coverage.

I just think it's curious that this is somehow a negative for Hamlin. This is right up there with the 30 yard slant and not knowing what a zone blitz is.

it never was a negative

only that other FSs manage to cover an area, and still manage to get more INTs than Hamlin does AND prevent the big play

let's just both be happy that he has stepped up his tackling

I have liked what I have seen from Ball, I just think we need an upgrade at our safety position

Tackling is icing on the cake for a free safety. Coverage statistics are what matters. And few in the league have better coverage statistics than Hamlin.

I guess you forgot that you already admitted you were wrong in that thread.

One thing you might be missing is something we can't see Bob and that is he makes the calls for the coverage in the secondary. I heard several defensive players say Hamlin is the quarterback in the defensive backfield.

I didn't admit I was wrong

you seem to forget that that argument went off on a tangent

don't get me started on how wrong you were about Chris Johnson
