Kenny Phillips/Cary Williams - Eagles

Plus eagles did something right off the bat that many of us clamored for every year (getting true NT)....they signed Niners Nose Tackle Isaac Sopoaga 6'2" 330 lbs for their new 3-4.

I always liked Kenny Phillips. I kind of wish we had a chance to get him, but oh well.

You guys keep milking that dream team thing but they were a horrendous team last year who is getting rid of players who stunk up the joint and adding some solid pieces. I dont think they even have a FA left from that "Dream Team" correct me if im wrong. That's alot better than being average and doing nothing dont you agree?

We've seen this time and time again though. You can't just sign a bunch of free agnets and expect them to come together and win a Super Bowl. It just doesn't happen that way. The NFL is full of parity but one thing that always rings true is that the teams that do well are built from within and have a core of guys that have played together.

Good pick ups for them. Their biggest issues are Phillips doesn't appear to be able to stay healthy so it's quite possible he won't even be a factor and their whole season will hindge on rather Vick can stay healthy the whole year and given that I'm sure Kelly will be running that read option offense I'd be willing to bet that Vick won't make it through the year.

several smart (and i use that term loosely) people on this board have said for years that you dont need a big NT to run the 3-4 effectively

you know, the way Pitt, NE, etc ran it

what do bellichick and lebeau know about running a 3-4

what you need are more CBs

if this were a cowboys roster we'd hear complaints that we're still trusting an injury prone Vick to run the offense, we'll need at least a year to get comfortable with the new system, and we'd hear "hasn't Jerry learned that building your team through free agency just doesn't work".
There would still be complaints about asoumugha, and people would still be mad.

thats laughable. Bellichick uses one of the best anchoring DT of our era in Wilfork.

Who said anything about a Super Bowl though? The object should be to improve yearly. The Eagles won 4 games last year and they've made some moves that suggest they will be much better than 4 wins this year, and thats without the draft. I'm sure an Eagle fan would be satisfied with that as opposing to their team doing nothing.

Like , umm , last year.

Exactly! How did that work out for them with their dream team?

As mentioned before, unless they are Reggie White or Deon Sanders, they will not make any difference.

It is looking like Dallas severely overpaid to upgrade their CB corps last year.

I like these pickups for the Eagles too...

A safety that struggled with a right knee injury all year long and had issues in the rehab process.

A corner that gave up 2 TDs in the game we played against him. In his defense though he had a solid season but this signing is reminiscent of the Santonio Holmes signing.
