KENT, Ohio — Kent State junior center Chris Anzevino (Warren, Ohio) has been named to the Rimington Trophy 2010 Spring Watch List. Anzevino is one of 37 players on the preliminary list for the trophy that is awarded annually to the top center in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
The 6-2, 305-pound Anzevino has started all 24 games for the Golden Flashes for the past two seasons, anchoring an offensive line that paved the way for the 11th-best rushing offense in the nation in 2008. Last season, he was on the field for 839 snaps and did not allow a sack.
Created with the support of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, the award was established in 2000 in honor of Dave Rimington. A two-time All-American at Nebraska, he is the only player to have won the Outland Trophy twice. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Hall of Fame, Rimington was a first round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1983, where he was a teammate of Esiason’s for four years.
Proceeds from the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet will benefit cystic fibrosis research.
Kent State 2010 football season tickets are available for as low as $30 for the six-game home slate. Call (330) 672-2244 for more information. The Golden Flashes kick off the season in Dix Stadium Thursday, Sept. 2 against Murray State.
