Do yall notice how good Burnett played, I know it was against second string but he still looked good. If Wade lets the starters play the fist half he should let Burnett or Carpenter play with the starters to see how they do against the other teams starters.

I'd love to see that. We should go to Ayodele and James and Ware and say, this game you will rest, we know what you guys can do.

Then put in Burnett/Carpenter/Glymph/Spencer. Put the young corners out there against 1st team units, let Watkins start, Folk kick the entire game. I would do this either against the Texans or the following week.

If they do this I hope they keep all the starters in except for the ILB

you guys want so desperately to se James benched, but Phillips just said in FWST that James is probably going to be an evry down LB now...says he has had a great camp and preseason

and after watching James in the two games, he is right

I do not want to see James get benched, I'm one of his biggest fans, but I would just like to see how Burnett would do against starters instead of second string, and I agree James has looked good in this preason.

Bradie James will kill this team in coverage on 3rd downs, especially as season wears on.

He is what he is.

Look for Burnett to get more reps this year in Phillips 3-4.

Loved the selection of Burnett in that draft from day one...it's been a bit of a disappointment so far but I still think he's got a ton of potential.

Maybe this defense will help to being that out.

Burnett had a hit on a running back that made me go "oooooohhhhhh".

I say we stay as young as possible on the LB's, which needs that speed in this defensive scheme.

Got a feeling our Video guru's here are going to have a field day with "HIT Clips" this year

Got a link?

If so, I'm terrified.

No. Engel says Wade 'intimated' that Carp wasnt good at rushing the passer.

Now you're just making stuff up.

can you read?

James over Carpenter
Linebacker Bradie James was thought to be a two-down linebacker with Bobby Carpenter taking over in passing situations.

But Wade Phillips intimated that pass rushing isn't Carpenter's strength, and Phillips has been so impressed with James that he's thinking James will be an every-down linebacker.

Key word: intimated.

In other words...Engel's speculation.

Didn't happen to catch that Wade is putting Carpenter at OLB behind Spencer did you? Makes a ton of sense if you can't rush the passer.

And agin there is no quote to what Wade actually said because as you and i both know: Wade is so impressed with James that he is no where near the nickel defense.

Noone else is talking about this anywhere. Its not on the radio its not on DC.com or the DMN its just Engels and he didnt even quote anything.

You've got some quotations to go with that? Sounds to me like its speculation across the board.

Has everyone forgotten how bad James was in coverage last year? How often he missed assignments? If he's genuinely improved THAT much, then so be it...I'm not buying it just yet. If he's in there on third downs, I'm scared.

Not really - I hope that he learns suddenly how to play defense every down, including covering his zone responsibility on passing downs. He seems like a good, smart guy - I like him plenty, and it is to the Cowboys' benefit that he plays well.

That being said, in 4 years here, I have yet to be impressed with him (he was nothing more than OK in 2005), so I don't know why in year 5 I should expect him to suddenly grasp everything. I hope that he does, but I am not holding my breath.
