Key matchups vs. Giants

Whomever wins a majority of these battles should win the game.

Dallas OLBs vs. Kareem McKenzie - Most important duel of the day. Whitfield's been terrible and I fully expect a lot of help on his side so McKenzie's going to be on an island all day. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ware lining up at LOLB more than usual to take advantage of this, but Carpenter and Singleton need to win this battle when they're in.

Henry vs. Burress - Henry needs a good start. Bad things will happen if Burress is shut out early. He's a time bomb ready to explode.

Ayodele/James vs. Barber - Both Dallas ILBs got caught up in the wash often the first go 'round allowing Barber to have a very nice day. They need to turn those seven yarders into three yarders to force Manning to throw.

Parcells vs. Coughlin - Parcells was outcoached the first time he faced a division opponent for the second time. He needs to understand that this isn't about getting two games up on the Giants but ending their season and hence challenge to Dallas once and for all. Turn the screws down even tighter and see if they bail. Coughlin needs to do everything in his power to hold the Giants together the first time something doesn't go their way.

Romo vs. the Giants' secondary - Romo's confidence seems to be sky high, but somewhere in the back of his mind he must remember that this team picked him off three times in a half. Romo's a better QB today than he was the first time he ever saw significant time in a game, but it wouldn't take much for the Giants to get into his head.

Miles Austin vs. David Tyree - A huge hit or turnover on the opening kickoff is the type of thing that could energize the Giants. Austin needs to avoid Tyree in particular and start off with a solid if unspectacular return if Dallas gets the opening kick.

The way Manning has been playing I expect to see Coughlin calling a lot of running plays this weekend and so the biggest matchup I see in this game will come down to the Giants run offense and the Cowboys run defense. Barber is the main key, shut him down and force Manning to win the game.

Manning hasn't been playing that poorly, a few TDs and his rating would be well above average.

The biggest problem hasn't been Manning, but rather their playmakers not making plays. Burress dogs on a ton of plays, Shockey hasn't been open and has dropped a few and they really miss Toomer.

On passing downs I would like to see Ware line up at ROLB and Burnett at Left, trying to force the double team Wares way and leaving Burnett man on man with Whitfield.

The reason I say this is the Giants will need to double Ware pretty much whereever he is so why not force the man - man matchup with Burnett on the weaker player.

True, I'm not placing the entire offensive problems on Eli. I should have said the Giants passing offense and the loss of Toomer and LT Petitgout. Having said that in the last 3 games Manning has played at his worse producing QB rating of 28.3, 51.9 and 59.1 and his accuracy has been poor as of late. When you get down to it I think the play of Barber will be key for the Giants this weekend which is why I feel the matchup of the Giants run offense and Dallas run defense will be the main key to this game. If Barber can run he helps to take the pressure off Manning who right now is under a lot of pressure by those in NY

I would really love to see Glenn out there more against Burress. The smaller corners seem to give him all sorts of trouble, he doesn't use his large frame well. We all remember his game against Glenn lasat year. Personally, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to get after Shockey with Henry, since safeties can't handle him. Or keep Ware around him, to smack him around.

Manning has stunk the place up the last few games in the 2nd half. Classic frontrunner.

That's exactly what I meant. Whitfield's playing LT and McKensie's playing RT.

Since Ware is our best rusher by far, why not put him against the weaker opponent? Personally, I like it when they move him around. That way they don't know where he's coming from.
AFA Shockey, I think a LB should hit him on every pass play, then Henry or Burnett should follow him where ever he goes. I think they're really going to hone in on Shockey, so we need to give him a little "kiss" whenever & wherever we can.

I just think that if you put Ware on Whitfield's side, most often it is going to force a double and limit his effectiveness to a great deal anyway, so why not line him on the other side and he would either get man-man on Mckenzie or they will double him over there. If they leave him man to man he will still cause havoc and if they double him that would leave Whitfield without much help on Burnett

Whitfield's play has not been very good which is why he is a backup. At one time Whitfield was a very good player he is no longer that player. In his 15th season he has lost his quickness and guys like Ware will give him fits.

You are injured on defense and have lost your left tackle. Sound familiar? What should the NYFG do to try to win the game?

1. Keep the ball out of Manning's hands as much as possible. This means a lot of Barber and Jacobs. Try to control TOP and let the fans make some noise and help. Also, keep the Dallas offense off the field. Play field position at all times.

2. Keep your passing attack short. Try to get Barber outside and matched up on the LB's. Use screens to a variety of your skill players to limit the pass rush. Get Shockey involved early, move him around and look for a favorable matchup.

3. The Cowboys never managed to really stop Barber's run inside/planned bounce outside attack last game. The Cowboy LB's were caught frequently over commiting inside. Attack the inside of the Cowboy line early and then go back to the run/bounce combo.

Make no mistake.....this is going to be a tough game.

You think manning hasnt been playing poorly? Wow. I have watched every giants game this season and um, manning is really playing poorly right now.

Do you realize the giants only really drove the field once sunday, the other scores were off great field position from fumbles by henry and white.

Manning has not had a good game against us yet, and without toomer and whitfield needing help, he shouldnt have a good game this sunday either.

I agree. I think it is critical that Dallas shut down the Giants running game and keep Manning in 2nd & 3rd and long if we do that I think Dallas walks out win the win.

A lot of running plays, screens and short passes to open things up is what I expect. A lot of initial blitzing from their defense to try to rattle Romo.

I agree which makes it important for the DL to get their hands up and create tip balls thing with short passes they are easier to take it to the house when you pick them off. I would also add Manning accuracy even on short passes of late have been poor and that could help add to our TO ratio

The flip side to that is that we take a 3 wide look and make it a 5 wide look with witten and jones/barber and romo gets the ball out quick.

If they want to blitz, given their current health situation in the secondary we can make some huge plays. Mcquarters and wilson are gamblers and will go for the ball which makes it even more dangerous to blitz.

That's why Hatcher will get at least 2 sacks this game. They play Ware on the opposite side on nickel, while, Hatcher will go up against Whitfield. They can't double team both of them, so they're going to double Ware on the strong side, and hope Whit can stop Hatcher 1-on-1 (Which he can't).

I think Dallas keeps doing what they are doing, mix it up between the 2 TE look, the 3 WR and the 2 back sets we have been using. Run a balanced offense. These are the things we have been doing and winning with
