Key Stat

Yes despite playing in it his whole career. Doing something for a long time doesn't make you the prototype...

What does that even mean? How can you be a prototype of a system? I've never heard of a prototype run n shoot or prototype timing offense qb. You're either a good qb, or you're not.

West Coast: Drop back 3 steps, dump off pass. Watch stats become inflated.

Agreed. Their defense will keep them in a lot of games. They will go as far as their OL allows McNabb to take them. They will be improved this year. More than a little and less than a lot.
That defense isn't going to be any good. It needs to be McNabb keeping them in games, and he doesn't have the ability to do that consistently anymore imo. I think the Skins are going to do a whole lot of losing next season.

No, they traded their 2nd and a 3rd or 4th for an increase in merchandising and ticket sales, because Danny Boy can't sell anyone in Washington a Cambell jersey or a ticket to the game to watch Campbell, but he sure as heck can sell all of them McNabb jerseys and tickets to watch McNabb play.

If anyone ever wonders why Danny Boy really loves his big-splash, high profile free agents here's your clue. By the way, Haynesworth Jerseys stopped selling also and fans are souring on his production, so McNabb was brought in just in time to keep that revenue stream of ticket sales and merchandising flowing again.

McNabb is a good QB. He's got a well-earned reputation for eventually choking in the playoffs, but as a regular season QB, he's been very good for a decade.

And now he has a coach who did very well back when he had a good QB. Shanahan's teams struggled with guys like Jay Cutler and Jake Plummer at QB....who wouldn't have?

Washington will be very much improved this year if their OL is stabilized at all. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they won 10 games, though they may still find themselves only 3rd best in the division.
Dallas is ahead of the rest of the division, but one injury could change all that.

Way to high, for that many wins, even with McNabb.
Yes he improves them, but not that much. How does the Commanders system under Shanahan now compare to the Eagles, and how different is it from Zorn's. So while the Commanders adapt to a new coach and system, they too will take to mid season to see how it may turn out.

I think the Eagles take a step back the 1st half of the season, until Kolb gets more comfortable. Then we will see if he is a Tony Romo or an Aaron Rogers.

Still will be Cowboys / Giants, Eagles / Commanders

I am not worried. No way Philly trades McNabb to a division rival if they thought he would make them into contenders. Washington got taken... AGAIN!!! :lmao: :lmao2: :skins:

You don't think there's a dramatic difference in playing for a guy who is in total control vs. a guy who had "consultants" calling the plays?

I think we'll all agree that Philadelphia has much better wide receivers than Washington.

That said...

12th rated qb in the nfl - donavan mcnabb - 92.9 qb rating
15th rated qb in the nfl - jason campbell - 86.4 qb rating

They traded their 2nd and a 3rd or 4th for a 6.5 increase in qb rating. And who thinks McNabb plays better than he does last year in the system he has played in his entire career with some of the best receivers he has ever had compared to going into a new system that he has never played in with inferior receivers?

What they gain in McNabb is experience and probably a slightly longer range. That said they lose accuracy and mobility behind an already beleaguered offensive line.

This moves makes no sense, and it won't improve Washington that much if at all. McNabb will be a year or two stop gap before people want Campbell back again.

The thing I'm most pissed about is Andy Reid now has 3 more draft picks to draft talent with. He is bound to get some quality out of that. I also think Kolb is going to be a good QB at the very least. (though it might take a year... or not)

I kept typing and erasing because I just didn't know how to respond to that post. I was going to go so far as to explain the differences between the Coryell, Walsh and Ohio River offenses among others but thought it was an effort in futility.
