Practice?
Yea, i would think practicing with and against NFL caliber players would help a bit also.
Practice?
If Miles is going to be effective in the slot against the blitz, they need a hot read other than a slant. The Chiefs zoned a player into that slant every time they blitzed with Miles in the slot. Not once did we try to go over the top.
For god's sake, can we get some double moves. There isn't a single defensive back in the omniverse that is covering Austin or Bryant on a double move. Bryant on a flag route would murder defenses. Flag Bryant and have Austin streak from the slot on the same side of the field. MURDER!
Ok I may need to sleep now. That other thread wore me out...
I think its time to put Miles on the edge again, get Beasley or Harris on the slot and sub Williams when Dez or Miles gets tired.
Forget the 12 personel, we do not have Gronk and Hernandez, just play to our strenghts.
I've exposed the Witten stuff plenty of times. He and Romo need to get outta here.
As much as it pains me to say it, I am starting to feel the same way. I dont think Romo reads defenses very well, definately not as well as he should be given his experience. Witten has been one of my favorite players but I he is just too slow to really threaten defenses down the seem. Both these things are really limiting the offense.
Romo's contract is going to hold this team back for at 3 years more years.
Is Willis McGahee walking the streets?
This?? Witten a HOF TE sucks and Romo sucks. LOL The problem is and has been the play calling period. Callahan is terrible. Example, WR screen in the red zone (there no way Romo checked down to that, it was designed). What a joke when you have 2 (Witten, Dez) ball hawking red zone threats.
I didnt say Witten sucks, but he is SLOW and we have NO one who threatens the middle of the field in the 12 offense. Everything to Witten is within 10 yards of the LOS, you cant tell me having a TE who can threaten LBs deep wouldnt open up the running game and other passing lanes. That is a joke. Im not arguing that the play calling is good, it isnt but It is also limited by some of the personnel.
Why would he come here? We already have 4 backs.
Give me Dwayne Harris and Cole Beasley over T. Will. Let T. Will earn his stripes by watching these two guys work. I miss the production we were getting from Harris. Beasley just knows how to find the opening.
1. Feed Dez, ESPECIALLY in the Red Zone - Model how the Lions use Calvin Johnson. It doesn't matter if everyone in the whole stadium knows Dez is getting the ball, throw him the ball. I don't care if you have to do it 3 times in a row in the red zone, he will eventually come down with the ball. Force yourself down their throats.
2. Feed the hot hand - Continue to feed the hot hand until the defense figures out a way to stop it. Then once they do, the others will get enticing matchups and opportunities.
3. Activate and utilize Cole Beasley - Our third down efficiency is atrocious. We can't sustain any drives. Let's bring in Cole Beasley, who at the worst can get us some first downs. Guy has a knack for getting open.
4. Stop forcing throws to Jason Witten - Teams have figured out that if they take Jason Witten out of the game, Romo will start forcing bad throws to him in critical times of the game. Romo is so reliant on Witten that sometimes to a detriment. If we are going to go anywhere we need to be more reliant on Bryant, not Witten.
5. Speed up the offense - I don't know why they call this the "hurry up" offense if all they do is confuse their own guys, and still practically wait until the playclock is down to 0. Romo was at his best last year when they were in deficits and he had to create plays, and put defenses on their heels. Even if the Giants game when they went hurry up, we see what it did to the defensive players. They were gasping for air. Then you can exploit defenses with big plays to Dez and running the ball. So let's do a "real" hurry up.
6. More creativity on offense, ESPECIALLY in running game - Our offense is so stagnant. We do nothing different. We need to take advantage of defenses weaknesses, and utilize our offenses strengths. Why don't we ever do a reverse option throw for Dez, who supposedly has a cannon for an arm? Or any type of trick plays? Or even just simply setting up our runs a little better.
7. Keep using Lance Dunbar - Yes I know he has fumbleitis. I don't care, continue working with him. Spend extra time with him practicing holding on to the football. He gives our offense something we are badly lacking, speed and explosiveness. Give him 1 more chance. If it happens again, obviously we have no more choice but to stop using him.
8. Put teams away - For some reason, it seems year after year with this team we like to let teams hang around rather then put them away. Whether its playing soft prevent defense, or calling predictable plays on offense, its like we don't want to end games. Rather we want to keep all games close, and let teams have a chance at the end. This team is WAY too conservative at times. In the Giants game it almost came down to bite us, but in the Chiefs game it actually did. We need to deliver knock out blows, rather then let every game go 12 rounds.
Fix these things, and it could go a LONG way
