defensively,
its amazing how similar the vikings offense is to ours. they are deep at RB with both of them able to catch out of the backfield and Ravre has shown he will dump it to them. they have a good TE and 3 deep at WR, with play makers and run after the catch ability. they make big plays but they can also dink and unk their way down the field. the play of their OL has come into question, and we have analyzed ware and specner impact to death. we know, they know and the whole world knows they will be doubling ware, chipping spencer to slow the pass rush.
IMO the key to this game for us defensively is Ratliff. he has the uncanny ability to rush from the middle and push favre out. of course he is dangerous outside the pocket. but at least he can be pushed to the edge towards spencer and ware. the middle of our defense (James, Brooking, Carpenter, Sensi) is going to be critical in containing their offense. we know newmann and jenkins are going to lock up with their WRs and hamlin is going to roll one way or the other. but I bet they will try a few first down passes down the middle trying to isolate Brookings and they are going to test Carpenter. the key is not going to be sacks but how much time will favre get throwing the ball. he is too much of a veteran to take too many sacks. he will dump it off and let his play makers do their job.
the other key is going to be our tackling. if we don't tackle well, we are going to be screwed.

Offensively for us, we are almost their mirror image, they do have a better RB, but I think our RBs specially felix jones is playing at a very high level right now. I like our match up in the middle and with their run defense and our run offense noone is going to give and will end up in the middle. davis and groude are big and strong and probably won't need much help against their DTs, since they are not that mobile. Jarred allen with his tenacity will give Adams some problem, but we know, they know and the whole world knows he will be double teamed.
I expect us to utilize the draw and screens as we have been. let pat and kevin come up field and lets get Jones one-on-one. the key to their defense is their LBs play. I like to see us throw a few screens and run wide a little bit to make those huge DTs run a little bit. slow them down a bit if you will. the key to our offense is going to be Kosier versatility on pulls, screens and getting to the second level.
their defense plays a lot of cover 2, so ROmo and company need to be patient. witten, austin, crayton are very good at finding the dead zones in cover 2, so our pass protection is going to be critical. take what they give you, keep their offense on the side line and dink and dunk your way down the field. more importantly score ^TDs when we get the opportunities inside the redzone. scoring TDs against cover 2 is very difficult in the redzone.
I think we might see a couple of new wrinkles from wade and JG this week. I expect to see a few 3 WR sets and see bennett and witten involved (spreading them out into the slot of our wide to create mismatches). their secondary is not that deep so lets find the weak link and lets bet that my 3rd or 4th guys is heck of a lot better than yours.
this game is going to go into the 4th quarter. the team with the ball last will probably be driving for the win and the defense probably playing to preserve a win. this is not a cake walk and both teams will be ready.
I can't freaking wait.
