KFFL IS REPORTING THAT following Cowboys...

I think Urban is at his celling, Austin has more upside. that punt return was because of good blocking. Urban looked to bit too slow for me.

No doubt. But I dont think Miles has unlimited upside myself. He is OK. Still very raw, tho improved a bit.

My question about Miles returning punts is a serious one? Why do we not make him do it?

Again, not a big fan of Urban, not did I become one over that punt return. I know he has a past playing WR for Seattle so he has that experience putting him with more than both Hurd and Austin. He's has been showing up quite a bit since OTAs. He makes a lot of plays.

Miles, I dont see much contribution on O at all this year. Other than KRs, Urban may have more immediate value for a team trying to win a SB.

If we are going on past experience that impacts a SB run, Miles had a KO return that almost won us a playoff game last year while Urban has done nothing to impact a real game.

Crayton or Butler can return punts and maybe by thanksgiving we will have Stanback ready to do that as well.

It shouldnt come down to one play. Urban is way more polished at WR than Miles, on a team with an injured WR. And there is something to be said for PR ability. If it were so simple why is Austin not doing it too?

Punts are way more difficult to return than kicks.

I have yet to see Urban do anything at WR. He's the very definition of spare at WR IMO. He can return punts, but he still made a dumb decision to field that one in the first place.

No way we keep Urban over Miles. The one "good" play he made, was a return that he should never have fielded in the first place, against 3rd and 4th string players. He fumbled another one and hasn't done anything at all in the passing game.

Not true Haley. Urban was becoming a nice little player in Seattle before breaking his foot. As far as impacting a real game, he caught a game winning 46 yard bomb for them. Walk off TD! LOL! He has done more in a passing O than both our current 4-5 WRs. No biggie, I dont think he is all that. But I like his scrappy play. And, I dont think Miles is ready to do much. We have guys for KOs too.

Yeah, he shouldnt have returned that TD! What was he thinking? Didnt he know he'd be judged for trying to make the team in an exhibition game for just that? He should have let himself get cut earlier for the good of the team!

Its funny on one hand Miles is wonderful for a straight ahead lucky KO return, but Urban makes a play and he's knocked for it.

The point isn't that he turned it into a TD, the point is that it was inside the FIVE yard line and should have been left for a touchback. Great, he got lucky in a preseason game and got a TD, then promptly fumbled one later to give up a TD to make up for the one "good" return he had. Meanwhile, Austin has done nothing but good things in the preseason (except one game) and during the regular season last year. It's a no-brainer to keep Austin over Urban.

Hmmm, why is he here and not in Seattle?

Well "could" is a nice umbrella statement. I can randomly draw names from a hat of players on the bubble and my list "could" be the same as this one. There's no source, no real details, and no reasoning behind the statements. How do I know that they didn't do just that?

Clearly "could" in this sense would denote prediction, rather than breaking news.

Whatever dude. They guy wanted to make the team and he pulled a play out of his butt and you want to take that away? Ridiculous. Thats what the last pre season game is all about. It is not a real game.

If it were a no brainer it would not have come down the last cuts. LOL! Nor would this thread exist, nor would there be reports that they are fighting for the 6th wr spot.

Just an FYI, lets deal with reality on Austin. He did nothing but good things last year?

For starters, Miles Austin has never caught a pass during the season. In addition, he fumbled 3 times in 9 games doing only one thing, returning kicks. 1/3 of his games! His costly fumble verus the Eagles led to a score. Of course his drop and fumbles have continued this preseason. He has not been all good. One good play, really. Couple nice returns. But he is a WR. Nothing TT couldnt do!

Listen, as I said I dont like Urban. He is here and we could use a reliable WR who can return as well. Obviously the team feels the same.

If you want to see a return that was easy and is putting Austin in the RoH:

Nice, speed. Giant hole, untouched return. Urbans was much nicer! :)

I also think Urban still has a small shot at somehow staying on the roster. He can offer more than either Austin or Stanback today.
Both Austin and Stanback have a bigger upside in the future.

Is there a place where I could see Urban's return? I have not seen it...

Sorry, I dont like Austin and doubt he ever amounts to more than a fringe player.

If Austin stays, no biggie, if he's gone, no biggie.

I am looking...

It was nice, nothing spectacular but a nice run... A broken play and 95 yards later....TD!

The guy knew what he was dong and has said as much. He wanted to make a play. This was not a real game and should not be viewed as one.

And if he did make a mistake, I would say he did a fine job making up for it! :starspin

He fair caught a ball inside the five yard line in the Houston game. No smart for an experienced player.

dooomsday, you're new here, but you're quickly becoming a nuisance w/ your constant Urban pimping

just my 2 cents
