Lions | Team shopping McDonald
Sat, 23 Feb 2008 10:58:15 -0800
Philip Zaroo, of Mlive.com, reports the Detroit Lions are reportedly shopping WR Shaun McDonald, according to the Chicago Tribune's Dan Pompei.

What does this mean in regards Roy Williams? Have they decided to hang on to him? or are they wanting to trade both players?

What's everyone's take on McDonald? Would he be a good fit in Dallas?

I bet he goes to San Fran. Martz said something to the effect that McDonald was the toughest one-on-one cover he'd EVER coached... Which is really saying something.

He'd be a great Welker-type of quickness guy to work the slot... Except that he obviously doesn't have Welker's hands.

He is a good wr and is a good 3rd wr he is like Crayton to me in a lot of ways an ok 2nd wr if you have injuries better playing from the slot

He is not bad by any means but he does not have the talent level of Roy or Calvin Johnson.

He is better than Randle El or all those wr the deadskins gave up draft picks for :lmao:

LOL @ Millen spending high picks on receivers, then dumping them we he gets a few good ones.

As for McDonald, we just gave Crayton a nice contract to be our 3rd receiver. So, no chance.

I wonder if this means that they have decided to hold on to R. Williams. Hostile had me almost convinced that he was going to be a cowboy next year.

You make it seem like we broke the bank on him. I havent seen McDonald play and I normally dont like to for an opinion based strictly on stats, but his numbers are far more impressive than Mr. Butterfinger Bug Eyes.

Rec Yds Y/G Avg TD
79 943 58.9 11.9 6 <-McDonald
50 697 46.5 13.9 7 <-Crayton

Factor in that nearly 1/3 of Crayton's yards and TD's came from the St. Louis came and McDonald played for an average offense and average QB, I dont see the comparison. McDonald week to week numbers are far more consistent than Crayton's.

McDonald is a 3rd receiver type. We didn't break the bank with Crayton, but it was a substantial contract. If you think we're going to trade for an upgrade and just have Crayton's contract hanging around for nothing, you're mistaken.

And to say that Crayton has butterfingers is ridiculous.

I was just taking shots at his playoff performance. Calm down.

And for him being a third type receiver, he had the most receptions and yards on his team. Granted, Roy was injured and had more YPG, but his ability to consistently get open is far more impressive than Crayton's lack to when he's got T.O. on the other side of the field, Witten requiring DB coverage and a O-line and QB like ours.

Well simply based on numbers, McDonald was also better than Roy Williams last year too.

What did I say? Williams was injured and had a higher average in the games he was in. I know that.
