I don't think so the coverage team was still getting toasted last year he didn't lead the team in ST tackles so I don't think it was a big loss.

I don't care if people think it's stupid, but I'd fire Bruce Read right now. Yes, the ST's would be off until the new coach got it straightened out, but at least a new coach COULD fix it. RIght now, it's broken and we already know the coach can't fix it.


Yeah, maybe blaming the probowl kicker will fix things.


If I were Jerry, Read would be gone and I'd have Coach Joe on the phone (and I don't even like Coach Joe).


If Wade wants to pull another "Buffalo" and quit cuz his sorry arse ST coach got fired, bye bye, Wade. Don't let the door hit ya in the arse on the way out.

I agree. Our ST's are HORRIBLE and almost seem to be an afterthought for this team. ST's are going to KILL us time and time again this year, and will cost us at least 2 games.

Huge concern of mine as well, I must say.

Thought these blurbs were interesting enuff to repost...

Sounds like whatever issues we have on ST, most are coming on kickoff coverage.

Most of our special teams were great last night.

-- Folk went 3-for-3 on field goals, from 35, 41 and 48 yards out.

-- Adam Jones had an 18-yard punt return.

-- Stanback averaged 38 yards per kickoff return and took one out to the 49-yard line.

-- McBriar's only punt went 62 yards in the air, with 61 yards net.

-- Houston's only punt return was a 1-yarder.

-- We had no penalties on any special-teams play.

The only unit that had trouble last night was kickoff coverage.

On the play of the special teams return units, particularly on the opening kickoff: It was a little bit of everything. We overplayed some of our spots in certain positions, which caused some people to mess up. I'm not blaming the kicker for not kicking the ball in space; we just have to learn how to adjust better to the kick. If the kick is a depp right kick, we expect the ball to go to the right, but the kick went to the middle. We have to lear to adjust to the kick and get to the middle. A lot of people are still young, and in their mind, when the kick is to the right, they go right instead of going to the ball and getting to the better leverage.
