There are likely many #2 kickers on TC rosters that’ll get cut that are light years better than these two clowns. They couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat.

Aubrey can. He did it in the other league.

Meh. Don't see it. Both kickers are missing 43 and 45 yarders? That's pathetic. Some high school kickers do better than that.
I agree. I’d been fine with bringing Maher back. Aside from the TB game fiasco he was pretty solid last year if I remember correctly. I think we need to go find a vet.

Some of the best FG kickers in the history of the game miss 43 and 45 yarders. Give me a break with this nonsense.

It's also in practice. Who cares?
It's in practice with perfect outdoor conditions and no real rush.

Now do Lambeau in December to win a game.

The conditions for kicking are not good with the swirling winds coming off of the Pacific Ocean.

I like Aubrey. As far as left/right he seems pretty solid. It’s just distance which I think he can improve over time. Oxnard has insane wind and I saw an Aubrey kick during the mojo moment just get stonewalled by wind and pushed a yard in front of the post. Aubrey isn’t gonna kick a game winning 60 yd FG, but if we know that going in, we can play with that knowledge

Vizcano has been crazy inaccurate

Here is the thing about judging place kickers in training camp:

We don’t know if the coaches are instructing the kickers to try different mechanics, different starting points, working on timing, etc. we also don’t know if they are having good communication with the long snapper, or if the team is trying out different kick holders.

The point of training camp is to tweak things for every player. Some tweaks work. Others don’t. If your coach says, “Let’s try lining up a little different on this kick - something the kicker isn’t used to - it could result in a missed kick. Maybe the coach wants him to try it multiple times. We just don’t know.

But the coaches know. Imagine Mike McCarthy asking his special teams coach, “Hey, what’s going on with the kickers!”. And the answer is, “I was telling them to try some new things, and that is why they missed the kicks.” McCarthy answers, “Okay, cool.”

My point is that we simply don’t know what the factors are that caused the missed kick. Was it the long snapper? Was it the holder? Did the coach make the player try something uncomfortable? Or did the kicker just miss?

Same thing with other players. The coaches may require the players to do something in practice they wouldn’t do in a real game, which makes the player look bad in that particular repetition.

The coaches know what is going on, and we don’t. So it is foolish to make snap judgements based on practice plays without having all the information.

Just not many proven kickers out there. The probably do under value the position but the FA market for kickers is pretty weak
They could always try to draft one, or.... take an undrafted kicker if they can find a decent one, but it seems like they never look there, they just go looking at Home Depot later. :banghead:

Drafting a kicker is harder than a QB. Very few make it. There just aren’t enough kickers. They need to find and keep one but they are really hard to find. There are some vets out there who became more valuable since the KO rule changes

Disagree conner...last I knew Robbie Gould and Mason Crosby are still out there available. I think they should bring Gould in personally.

I'd guess that there are a lot of kickers that can make 70%

They aren't going to bring Gould in. He can not kickoff.

70% won’t cut it in the nfl
Maher made 90%
The KO is not as important as it was before rule change but I’m sure that’s one factor in why he hasn’t been brought in. But he can make most FG so he may be an option if things don’t improve and he can make extra points
