...and, Marinelli of course. If, through their intense film study, come to the realization that the current D-line pieces are just fine for this scheme (which I think they will), the first 2 or 3 picks WILL BE O-line with a Safety sprinkled in as well. Book it.

So the key to our draft is an expert coming in, performing massively in-depth analysis in his area of experise and deliberating over a period of months to conclude, "We good here, let's draft us some other stuff instead?"

Sometimes inaction is the right course, I'll agree, but I'm not sure how Kiffin and Marinelli deciding we have good linemen is the KEY to the draft.

Depends on what the definition of key is. If they can determine we have the dline in place currently then that gives us S and OL as must gets instead of S,OL, and DL. It would be a big deal IMO if they feel our dline can get the job done. I think Hatcher could be a really good player in this defense and am interested to see where he plays this year.

Nope. I could see them easily not drafting O Line till the 3rd round and yes it is a huge need. Safety could be in the mix first two rounds but they will draft D Line early IMO.

I'm 99.9% sure Hatcher will be the starting 3 technique. At least that is where he will be penciled in at. Maybe a rookie or free agent beats him out.

I expect Kiffin will be focused on the talent in the draft and will make his case for players he is focusing in on. I would expect offensive coaches will be doing the same looking at players on the offensive side and making their evaluation and pushing for players. In the end it will be Tom Ciskowski, Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones making the determination.

Ciskowski input will be important since he is the one who puts the Cowboys draft board together after grading players out. It will be important to get the input from guys like Kiffin and Callahan as to how the players fit in and of course the HC and owner\GM to make the final call.

I think people get a bit silly thinking Jerry is just pulling names out of a hat on draft day with no information that has been gathered and debated in the months leading up to the draft.

A lot more realistic option in this scenario is that Jerry goes WR, RB or TE instead of o line....well because hes Jerry.

With that said, I still want Rat cut. He hasn't been productive or healthy for 2.5 straight years and hes now going to be 32. Who says hes going to be the same player he was back in 2010? I know he didn't really fit at NT, but hes just too much of a risk to pay him what he is going to make. I also question his heart and desire to play since getting his big pay day....

Not to mention the fact that we don't have a 2nd DE assuming Spencer is let go as he should.

I feel the same way. I think rotate he and Rat there and let them cause some havoc.
