Kill, Kill, Kill

He said Monday once too.

I've heard him yell Parcells and the like as well.

The Cowboys use an offensive system where plays are called by individual names rather than the string of verbiage we're used to. The play call is formation and then one or two phrases to describe the passing routes on either side of the formation. ie 'strong I right parcells monday'

Running plays are just formation and two numbers.

It's pretty cool because Romo is getting to the line with 20 or more seconds left on the regular. It is also easier to learn because of lack of jargon and naming the route combinations as such helps drive home what the plays are designed to do.

BTB Ickes and some others some others have put up articles about it. I am fascinated by Linehan's offense. So diverse and he merges WCO and Coryell principles.

Needless to say I really like this years team.

One thing I do hate is when the networks place that overhead cam in our huddle. A good lip reader probably could've made out what Tony called, although it might be a coincidence, but the run Tony called was stuffed.

This season, "Kill, Kill, Kill" is not always an audible. Sometimes it means nothing. Sometimes it means don't change the play.

Prior to this season, it almost always meant change from run to pass.
Good observation, and also I like how he looks at a receiver to change the play and he's actually talking about the receiver opposite side.

The last few years there were three certainties in life, death, taxes, and a Romo kill, kill, kill.... meant changing a run play to a pass play. Thankfully that is not the case now. Great job Linehan of keeping the defense guessing!!!!!

As long as it's not "Omaha" I'm happy. Way overused in the league (both Mannings, Palmer, Newton). I'm partial to Brady's "Alpha, go!" or Rodgers' "Blue 80".

Yeah, I pay attention to audibles way too much...

A little of both. Back when I used to play madden online a lot faking audibles would a lot of the time make the other dude audible out of a defense I didn't like to look of. I imagine that's not to far off how it works in real life too

LOL @ you guys thinking you know what it means.

Nobody outside of the organization does.

lol, I know. I hope people are just joking when they say that kill has always meant changing a run to a pass, as if they were in the huddle to know what the original call was.

it was never quite that simple

Well that is the point!! The last few years everyone knew exactly what it meant. It is rather nice that we don't know now. Linehan is doing a great job!!!!

it doesnt matter, when you have defenses on their heals, you can say anything you want in an audible and it will work.

Is Romo actually changing the play or are they using this to throw the defense off due to his history of using the audible to option out of run plays? There were several times when he said Kill, Kill, Kill... and they ran. Did he really switch a pass play to run or were they just using his history to bluff the defense????

I wouldn't think it's a bluff because all of the offense would have to be informed from play to play when Romo is using it as a bluff and when it is being used to actually switch plays. Most likely, it's set up on some plays as an audible from one run play to another.

Both. I think sometimes he's actually changing the play and other times he's just goofing with the defense.

Edit: Some research shows that it happened in 2011:
