If the draft were held today this is exactly how the first round would go.

1. Chicago Bears (Carolina) - Caleb Williams QB USC
2. Washington Maroonskins - Jayden Daniels QB LSU
3. New England Patriots - Drake Maye QB North Carolina
4. Arizona Cardinals - Marvin Harrison Jr. WR Ohio St.
5. Los Angeles Chargers - JC Latham T Alabama
6. New York Giants - Rome Odunze WR Washington
7. Tennessee Titans - Joe Alt T Notre Dame
8. Atlanta Falcons - Dallas Turner OLB Alabama
9. Chicago Bears - Malik Nabers WR LSU
10. New York Jets - Brock Bowers TE Georgia
11. Minnesota Vikings - Jared Verse DE Florida St.
12. Denver Broncos - J.J. McCarthy QB Michigan
13. Las Vegas Raiders - Byron Murphy II DT Texas
14. New Orleans Saints - Olu Fashanu T Penn St.
15. Indianapolis Colts - Terrion Arnold CB Alabama
16. Seattle Seahawks - Troy Fautanu G Washington
17. Jacksonville Jaguars - Quinyon Mitchell CB Toledo
18. Cincinnati Bengals - Taliese Fuaga T Oregon St.
19. Los Angeles Rams - Cooper DeJean CB Iowa
20. Pittsburgh Steelers - Nate Wiggins CB Clemson
21. Miami Dolphins- Graham Barton C Duke
22. Philadelphia Eagles - Laiatu Latu OLB UCLA⁷
23. Houston Texans (Cleveland) - Tyler Guyton T Oklahoma

24. Dallas Cowboys - Amarius Mims T Georgia
Mims has even fewer college starts than Guyton, as he was limited to just eight over the past three seasons because of injuries and draft picks in front of him on the Bulldogs' depth chart. But when he did play, he made defenders look silly. Mims, 6-7 and 340, allowed zero sacks and just five total pressures across 372 career pass blocks. Will NFL teams be scared off by his limited experience, or will they draft him high based on his size and potential? I lean toward the latter, because he was that good when he got on the field.

To make room for Mims, the Cowboys could part ways with longtime left tackle Tyron Smith, who's a free agent, or have him compete with Terence Steele on the right side. He played right tackle in college but has the talent to play both sides.

25. Green Bay Packers - Jordan Morgan T Arizona
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Keon Coleman WR Florida St.
27. Arizona Cardinals (Houston) - Darius Robinson DL Missouri
28. Buffalo Bills - Brian Thomas Jr. WR LSU
29. Detroit Lions - T.J. Tampa CB Iowa St.
30. Baltimore Ravens - Kamari Lassiter CB Georgia
31. San Francisco 49ers - Chop Robinson OLB Penn St.
32. Kansas City Chiefs - Xavier Worthy WR Texas

What's weird about this is Field Yates has taken over Todd McShay's sidekick role for Mel and he released his own mock a couple of weeks ago. On the ESPN show they do for these Mel started off praising the mock and then started criticizing it. Then when they got to the Cowboys and their selection of LB Edgerrin Cooper, Mel told Field he is back making sense as this was a great pick.

Two weeks later Mel doesn't have Cooper in his 1st round.

Mel throwing in a sleeper CB from the Iowa St. Cyclones. He's from my neck of the woods.

I have to do more study on him to find out what went wrong in his life that he ended up a cornerback.

Mims would be a great pick. I'd lean towards BTJ in this scenario but would be happy for sure.

I think I would take Chop Robison in this situation. I am really warming up to him

That's because McShay's insight is far greater and more accurate and he has already surpassed Kiper.

If that's the board you take Mims without blinking.

Does Jackson Powers-Johnson go early 2nd? Is he still there in the late 2nd? Could he possibly fall out of Day 2 altogether?

We won't know until Mel tells us.

Packers would get the better Tackle just one pick right after us. Im so over these injury prone players and knuckleheads. Just pick guys who are healthy and LOVE football. Its seems so hard for this dumb organization.

Clarification on why Mel mocked JC Latham at 5 when he has him currently at 22 on his big board. He says it's not just about his ratings but what he's hearing around the league.

everything im seeing amnd reading is he could very well go before we picks. some mocks have him going in teens. But whatever Mel says id go with the opposite.
