Kiper Mock 3.0 3/18/25

Phil Mafah or Kalel Mullings aren't much different than him. Why draft a guy a round too early when this draft class is rich at the RB position? This would be stupid but I guess if a teams board stacks up to where a RB is rated as a first round grade, I can respect it. We can disagree. Donovan Edwards is another back that's being slept on. He does nothing but make house calls. Can't believe he's not getting more love.

He's very good and I think he'll be a good pro. I'd love to draft the kid, but I don't want him (or any RB) at 12.
In Mel's scenario I'd have to think they would take Tet or Stewart, right? Maybe W Campbell if they decide to go O-line.
I would try hard to drop back (no more than 6-7) spots and see who's still there. There's a lot of good football players (at needed positions) still available on his list.
As many holes as we have, I want to move back. Unless Graham or Jeanty is there.

That's completely the wrong way to look at it. For example, last year the Cowboys took the 8th best OL at 29.

And no, the Cowboys shouldn't take the 2nd best RB (or even the best RB) at 12. This draft is loaded with them. Get one on day 2.
The voice of logic! I feel the same way but the Jones clan has never appreciated the DT position.

I am not opposed to taking a RB at 12 but he has to be generational talent and hold up to play out most of a 2nd contract. As for Zeke i think was a multifaceted failure I think too many people got into his ear about how he should build his NFL body and ultimately robbed him of couple of peak years of production.

For Graham yes, but again I'll pass on a RB at 12, even one as good as Jeanty. IMO, the draft is just too deep at RB this year. I can't see the advantage of spending that capitol on a RB when we have soo many other big needs.
As an example, in rds 1-3 would you rather they end up with
RB A Jeanty, DE P Umanmielen and DT J Burch
or
DE M Williams, DT T Williams and RB K Johnson?

IMO, the advantage that Jeanty has over Johnson at RB isn't nearly as great as the advantage that the 2 Williams' have over Uman / Burch at DE and DT.
I know these are just the players I selected in those rds and none of us know who will actually be there but I just went off of their current rankings and expected availability. We can both come up with various different lists of possible picks in each rd but the point is the talent at RB goes much deeper into this class than the talent of the DE's and DT's does. Not to mention all the other needed positions that aren't any where near as deep.

Campbell just might be staring us in the eye at 12. Or membeu. Then what? We either make a pick or trade back?

I heard Kipers explanation for the cowboys pick on his podcast. He just thinks Dallas needs a rb so he mocked the next rb on his board to us. He says Dallas could go a number of different ways directions here.

I think Hampton would be a mistake. Its a deep rb draft and we have bigger needs.

1. Tennessee Titans - Cam Ward QB Miami
2. Cleveland Browns - Abdul Carter OLB Penn St.
3. New York Giants - Shedeur Sanders QB Colorado
4. New England Patriots - Travis Hunter WR/CB Colorado
5. Jacksonville Jaguars - Mason Graham DT Michigan
6. Las Vegas Raiders - Ashton Jeanty RB Boise St.
7. New York Jets - Tyler Warren TE Penn St.
8. Carolina Panthers - Jalon Walker LB Georgia
9. New Orleans Saints - Jaxson Dart QB Mississippi
10. Chicago Bears - Mykel Williams OLB Georgia
11. San Francisco 49ers - Armand Membou T/G Missouri

12. Dallas Cowboys - Omarion Hampton RB North Carolina
No change from my Cowboys pick projection from my last mock draft. Hampton actually firmed up his first round case at the combine, running a 4.46 second 40 yard dash and leaping 10 feet 10 inches in the broad jump. He is a home run hitter who can spark something in this Dallas running game, which has been dormant for the last two campaigns. The Cowboys averaged 4.0 yards per carry over that time, tied for fourth worst in the league.

So even after signing Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders to low risk deals, I think the Cowboys could draft Hampton. He is the kind of difference maker they need at the position. He rushed for 3,164 yards and 30 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

13. Miami Dolphins - Will Campbell T/G LSU
14. Indianapolis Colts - Colston Loveland TE Michigan
15. Atlanta Falcons - Mike Green OLB Marshall
16. Arizona Cardinals - Will Johnson CB Michigan
17. Cincinnati Bengals - Shemar Stewart DE Texas A&M
18. Seattle Seahawks - Nick Emmanwori S South Carolina
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jihaad Campbell LB Alabama
20. Denver Broncos - Tetairoa McMillan WR Arizona
21. Pittsburgh Steelers - Derrick Harmon DT Oregon
22. Los Angeles Chargers - Matthew Golden WR Texas
23. Green Bay Packers - Emeka Egbuka WR Ohio St.
24. Minnesota Vikings - Jahdae Barron CB Texas
25. Houston Texans - Josh Simmons T Ohio St.
26. Los Angeles Rams - Azareye'h Thomas CB Florida St.
27. Baltimore Ravens - Malaki Starks S Georgia
28. Detroit Lions - James Pearce Jr. OLB Tennessee
29. Washington (Red)skins - Maxwell Hairston CB Kentucky
30. Buffalo Bills - Kenneth Grant DT Michigan
31. Kansas City Chiefs - Kelvin Banks Jr. T Texas
32. Philadelphia Eagles - Walter Nolen DT Mississippi
I would puke if that happens....but given it was Kiper, probably won't happen.

"This draft is deep at rb so I'll grab a decent tandem rb in the later rounds instead of a way better rb earlier"

Yes he emphatically did, and he was wrong. I think it hurt his reputation to be on camera saying what he said and not even being in the ballpark of correct.
I mean, Taco over Watt. McClay said he was a better fit.

A personnel guru he is not. He's just not a Jones so he looks like Ron Wolf in comparison.
