19. Dallas Cowboys - Rashaan Evans ILB Alabama
This pick could depend on how the Cowboys feel about Jaylon Smith, who improved as the 2017 season went along but struggled at times. If they think Smith can fill in at middle linebacker with Anthony Hitchens gone to the Chiefs in free agency, they might look elsewhere in the draft. For now, I think Evans is a good fit as an every-down player. Tight end is another position to watch here -- Dallas needs to replace Jason Witten at some point.

Id love it....but just dont see them passing Ridley.
Evans is a great pick tho.
no quams from me.

Dallas is going to make a call to Oakland the second Derwin James makes it to 10. Gut feeling. Otherwise I’d take Ridley at 19. Not sure who I like between LVE and Evans.

If you want to go WR at 19, go DJ Moore. More explosive, more upside.

my personal preference is LVE.
but Evans is a helluva player.
I can live with it.

I few thoughts on this:

- It would be hard for the Browns to mess up the #1 overall pick and somehow Kiper found a way to do it.

- We have a great working relationship with Oakland’s front office. I think they take 19 & 50 and we go get Derwin James.

- Russell Wilson might say screw it and join the Yankees if Seattle doesn’t draft an offensive lineman. They gotta face Aaron Donald and a singled up Suh twice a year.

- I love the depth at LB in the middle rounds too much to take a LB at 19, who ideally would just a backup for a healthy Jaylon.

- I wish he would stop mentioning TE as a possibility for us. As long as Witten is here, it’s ridiculous to even entertain that thought.

- As much as I would despise it, I HIGHLY doubt we’d pass on Ridley.

- Jacksonville taking another one of my favorite prospects. What else is new?

- I can't get behind taking a kid, even one as talented as Allen, and take him #1 when he's a sub 60% passer. Guys don't often magically become more accurate in the NFL.

- 19 and 50 for James would be insane. Too many holes to take that risk.

- I don't think a LB at 19 would be a backup to Smith. I think if they can get a LB at 19 who can play MIKE, Smith will go to SAM. But then that raises the question of is a LB at 19 worth it if Smith and Lee are the nickel backers and you are pulling the kid you picked at 19 off the field a lot?

- Like you, don't want a WR at 19 but gun to head, I think I'd want Moore over Ridley.

it'd be just like the Ravens to take Evans.
they love LBs.
they love bama players.
worth remembering.

We've had linebackers take a little while to get the pros figured out, so it probably wouldn't be bad to have a rookie be a two-down player. In a year or so, we'll probably need to replace Lee anyway so the first-rounder and Smith would be our primaries then if they both work out.

LG (depending on how they feel about Marcus Martin), 1T (a position they don’t value) and MIKE. What are the other holes that there are too many of to take that risk?

MIKE. DT. OL. TE. DE.

This team is not one player from being elite. If we were a safety away from a dominant defense and a SB caliber team, sure. But this team has talent issues at DE, DT, LB, S, WR, TE, etc. Giving up prime picks is not something I think would be wise here.
