At 3 grab Tre Harris and you have your starting WR2 opposite Lamb .
You make the draft seem so simple. At 3 grab Tre Harris and you have your starting WR2 opposite Lamb .
I like getting a top running back. All 5 Cowboy championship teams had a top running back.Picking the 2nd best RB at #12 overall is 1 of the dumber the things you could possibly do as a GM…so I don’t rule it out
This... but I don't see enough margin between Hampton and the next 10 RBs to even consider using a first-round pick. Jeanty is the only RB I'm selecting with my first.I like Hampton a lot.
But no need to burn the 12th overall pick on him in a deep RB class.
If you said trade down and get Hampton AND another 2nd rounder....which is very possible...then I'm reluctantly ok
I think he has regressed in a big way the last few years.this may be the worst mock I’ve ever seen. Mel is on the fast track to be rooming with Jerry in the dementia ward
12. Dallas Cowboys
Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina
I was torn here, as I think Dallas will look at all offensive playmakers. It needs a difference-making WR2 to take some of the load off CeeDee Lamb. But I'm not sure Texas' Matthew Golden or Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan will go quite this early.
Instead, I see the Cowboys trying to improve the run game, which managed 4.0 yards per carry and a league-low six TDs last season. They have thus far replaced Rico Dowdle with Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Neither new back has the home run ability of Hampton, who can scoot through holes and take off despite his 221-pound build. I've never been an advocate of the first-round running back, but team owner Jerry Jones isn't afraid to address the position on Day 1.
44. Dallas Cowboys
Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
Trevon Diggs had 11 interceptions in 2021, and DaRon Bland had nine in 2023. But neither played more than 11 games last season, and both struggled at times in coverage when on the field. The end result was 7.9 yards allowed per opponent pass attempt, which tied for worst in the NFL.
Amos had three picks and 15 pass breakups last season, and he has played in 63 career games. In addition to shoring up the outside, he'd help replace Jourdan Lewis, the Cowboys' slot corner who left in free agency.
You make the draft seem so simple.
i really like both players so i wouldn't hate it.
we MUST come out of this draft with a rb who can make a difference.
hampton certainly can and has done that.
Good for him. Hopefully we’re not the team that makes that horrific mistake.Hampton is going off the board faster than most think. And position depth doesn't keep me from drafting him. Running backs are high value if you want to have a dominant rushing attack.
It won't be a horrific mistake. It will be a justified move to get a great addition to the offense.Good for him. Hopefully we’re not the team that makes that horrific mistake.
He has been known to push certain players higher. IMO helping agentsI think he has regressed in a big way the last few years.
It would be a horrific mistake…after Jeanty there are like 5 different RBs you can make a case for as RB2. And even more guys with starter potential further down the list.It won't be a horrific mistake. It will be a justified move to get a great addition to the offense.
Hampton fits the prototype RB we need for this team. There's more than one round to fill other holes. This draft is deep in Defensive lineman also so you can get one in the second round . And even if I take Hampton I would still take another RB in the later rounds. It would be a horrific mistake…after Jeanty there are like 5 different RBs you can make a case for as RB2. And even more guys with starter potential further down the list.
For a roster with a lot of holes and it being a weak class we need to hit on a money position in round 1.
LolHampton at 12. The dumbest thing I have ever seen. Jerry is a moron though. Still this is why I can’t stand Kiper. That guy has made a career on being wrong about the draft.
I thought he looked really fluid like a Marshall Faulk or Curtis Martin athleteI love the Hampton pick. You won't care he was taken at 12 once you see the results on the field.
