I missed him when he was on, but they had a teaser going into the 7 o'clock hour about the bombshell Kiper had dropped concerning the draft earlier in the morning. Did anybody catch it?

That the Commanders may trade up (or stay put) to draft a QB.

He also said he thinks theirs an "80% chance" Tim Teebow goes in the late 1st. Specifically mentioned the Vikings and, of course, Jaguars.

But yeah, he was saying that he had no idea what Washington would do. That he still believed that they might try and trade up for Bradford, that St Louis really likes Clausen, and that he just doesn't feel confident penciling a tackle to Washington just yet.

He was explaining how you to can get Eddie Munster hair. Just call 1-800-EDM-HAIR.

I thought the Rams were going to take Bradford...seems like most think it is a lock. I have also thought the skins have given up on moving up to get him once they traded to get mcnabb.

However one thing that makes me think that there is a small chance that they skins and rams are still working on a deal is the idea that I have heard nothing to indicate that the rams have started talks with bradford's agent.

When you have the first pick in the draft you are allowed to talk to players agents and try to work on contracts. There are times that the contract is even finished before the draft. Sometimes teams bring in 2-3 of the top players to work on deals to see which one is better (cost wise) or to try and get one of the other players/agent to take a tad less or miss out on the deal.

Maybe I have missed it but I have not heard much talk of this concerning the Rams and Bradford.

So maybe there is something still in the works but I just don't know what the skins could offer unless it is a few players or future draft picks as they are pretty much short in draft picks to trade this year.

maybe haynesworth and landry and a swap of 1s or some combination of it. I think the Commanders are going to want otogwe at some point anyway.

Can you imagine Donovan mcnabb's reaction if instead of taking a left tackle, they move up and send proven players for a Quarterback? He lost his mind in philly over kolb, I am sure he would love bradford behind him for people to yell to put in everytime he throws an incompletion.

maybe campbell, a swap of 1s and something else?

That's pretty much what I thought as well. Well, actually I thought it was just Kiper trying to make interesting radio . . .

But yeah, I did take into consideration that it is somewhat strange that we haven't heard about the Rams starting contract negotiations with anyone. They may have, but I haven't seen it. It isn't uncommon for the #1 team to talk to a few players pre-draft.

What they went on to speculate on Mike&Mike was that with McNabb, the Commanders will improve. They'll likely win 8-9 games (according to M&M). Meaning, they may not have another shot at a blue-chip QB prospect. Regarding the glaring hole at tackle, they mentioned how Snyder isnt' afraid to take care of needs via trades and/or free agency.

All speculation, of course. But it does make it somewhat interesting . . . I suppose.

I would love it. I would absolutely love it. :laugh2:

No, Bradford was on GAC the other day and they asked him point blank if there had been any contract talk at all with the Rams, and he said no, there hadn't been.

It would be strange to trade up and draft a guy #1 after just signing McNabb, but it is odd that the draft is tomorrow and the Rams haven't discussed even preliminaries with Bradford's agent.

Maybe there wasn't much to talk about. The number one is slotted. I wouldn't bargain with anyone if I were Bradford.

I suddenly have a feeling Clausen will be a Commander.

Why? Because I hate his face.

This isn't entirely scientific, mind you . . . but consider this:

I hate Eli Mannings face . . . and he's a Giant.

I hate McNabbs face . . . and he's been a Eagle and now a Commanders.

I really could see Clausen ending up as a Commander and annoying me for the next ten or so years.

I don't hate faces; I hate people. Much better reason.

It is very interesting that there have been no contacts supposedly with Bradford or Suh. Now the rams are going through a process of being bought, but it has not happened yet. I would think that the new owners would be very interested and want to have a better idea of up front costs, which this would be. And would be interested in seeing if they could save 5 or 10 million.

I like science.

I still say if I were the Rams GM, I would draft Suh in the 1st and Colt McCoy at the top of the 2nd. I think the gap between McCoy and Bradford is small. The gap between Suh and 2nd round DTs is a mile. Make the trade with Washington and get Campbell and Rocky McIntosh in the deal. Hell, ask for Haynesworth. Him next to Suh would be hard to beat.

There's a lot of pressure on the Rams GM though to take a QB.

I mean, they've been taking D-lineman every other year high in the draft, and it's not helping. Meanwhile, the league has witnessed several rookie or young QB's come in and make an immediate impact.

Bradford, talent-wise, shouldn't be the first player taken, but the Rams are kind of backed into a corner here.

If you got backed into a corner would you wave a white flag like a Frenchman, or would you come out fighting?

I would try desperately to trade for more picks.

If that didn't work, I'd do as you suggested . . . take the DT that best fit my scheme and take a QB at the top of the 2nd.

But . . . I don't run the Rams.

I don't know about all of the backed into a corner or not, don't know that the rams would not just like to have bradford or if they want to trade down. I mean who knows.

However I get the feeling that the rams are patiently waiting to see just how much the skins (or another team) would be willing to give up in order to get bradford. Might be a scenario where they want bradford but have to be open to a great trade the clearly falls in their favor.

It's just that whole thing of not talking to bradford or his agent that I find odd. One would think at the very least they would have preliminary talks to gauge some things.

Oh well...time will tell and it could be interesting. I could see washington giving up this years first (swapping), picks in next years draft and possibly multiple players. With rams sending the first over all pick and maybe atogwe.

It could be a blockbuster deal going down but I think the rams are holding out to get the most they can and figure that the skins will be the first to flinch.
