Kiper has us taking

14.png

Dallas Cowboys

* David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
Last year, the Cowboys got Tyron Smith at No. 9 overall, and that pick helped them turn over the offensive line. The results were pretty good in 2011. With DeCastro, the Cowboys have a chance to solidify the interior of the line, helping both the running game and protection for Tony Romo and make that unit a strength. The way I see it, the Cowboys have good pieces in place at every other spot on the offense. The talent at wide receiver and tight end is fine, Romo was quietly among the top-performing quarterbacks and there's plenty at running back. Doubling down on the O-line should be an option for Jerry Jones. If the value is there, Dallas could also target the secondary.

Seems to be the logical choice with he Kirkpatrick news. Dennard and the rest of the top 5 cornerbacks outside of Claiborne would be a reach here.

Kiper has
Kirkpatrick going 8
Upshaw going 10
Ingram going 12

so these guys off the board and DeCastro is there then I do it.

  1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck
  2. St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon
  3. Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil
  4. Cleveland Browns - Robert Griffin III
  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Trent Richardson
  6. Washington Commanders - Morris Claiborne
  7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Quinton Coples
  8. Carolina Panthers - Dre Kirkpatrick
  9. Miami Dolphins - Riley Reiff
  10. Buffalo Bills - Courtney Upshaw
  11. Kansas City Chiefs - Devon Still
  12. Seattle Seahawks - Melvin Ingram
  13. Arizona Cardinals - Jonathan Martin
  14. Dallas Cowboys - David DeCastro
  15. Philadelphia Eagles - Luke Kuechly
  16. New York Jets - Mark Barron
  17. Cincinnati Bengals - Alfonzo Dennard
  18. San Diego Chargers - Cordy Glenn
  19. Chicago Bears - Michael Floyd
  20. Tennessee Titans - Nick Perry
  21. Cincinnati Bengals - Lamar Miller
  22. Cleveland Browns - Kendall Wright
  23. Detroit Lions - Zach Brown
  24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Dontari Poe
  25. Denver Broncos - Fletcher Cox
  26. Houston Texans - Mohamed Sanu
  27. New England Patriots - Michael Brockers
  28. Green Bay Packers - Whitney Mercilus
  29. New York Giants - Zebrie Sanders
  30. Baltimore Ravens - Vontaze Burfict
  31. San Francisco 49ers - Alshon Jeffery
  32. New England Patriots - Andre Branch

whoa mark barron at 16? brockers falling all the way to the patriots? i thought they said he was the best d-line in the draft?

I want Washington to have no part of Morris Claiborne....

Mark Barron is highly thought of, but some of you just choose to ignore it.

I've changed my mind about him going to the Cowboys because I've watched further film on DeCastro and I'm drinking the kool-aid when it comes to his impact, but Barron will most likely be a #1 draft choice and it will probably be in the teens.

Helmet Hair is just conveying a wide spread belief.

Miami Dolphins - Riley Reiff
Buffalo Bills - Courtney Upshaw
Kansas City Chiefs - Devon Still
Seattle Seahawks - Melvin Ingram
Arizona Cardinals - Jonathan Martin
Dallas Cowboys - David DeCastro

Best case scenario for us.

That's a fairly reasonable Mock at this early stage.

I like Ingram @ 14 ,he is a better pass rusher than Spencer and can play the run too.we should take him over Decastro if both are available at 14.

where is he playing when you see him slow off the snap and what was the play.
Ingram was asked to hold the line alot as a DT vs the run.
If it is a running situtaion Ingram was probably asked to play the run.
Also often times when he is playing OLB for SC he was playing there for his ability to cover.
But when I seen him on a straight pass rush the guy fires right off the ball.
SC used his versitility for multiple roles.

I think Ingram will be gone before DeCastro and will be a top 12 pick.

History says DeCastro will be there. In the past 23 years, here's where first round guards have been taken:

19, 24, 17, 19, 16, 14, 25, 23, 10, 26, 17, 30, 32, 23, 29, 15, 17, 25, 23.

I like the idea of two, young, high caliber offensive linemen being cornerstones for years to come. DeCastro is #1 on my board of realistic draft choices, especially now that Kirkpatrick was caught with weed.

I could care less about Kirkpatrick's legal troubles because we should take DeCastro anyways. Draft him and sign Nicks or Grubbs and OLine goes from a glaring weakness to a great strength on this team. Totally worth it, even if DeCastro is a reach at 14.

Smith - DeCastro - Kowalski - Nicks - Free

That's a great OLine. You have to take that opportunity if its available.

Agreed.

I would only flip DeCastro and Nicks to keep them at their position they played.

I'll take Dont'a Hightower in the second round no question. I'd trade up to get him if he lasted that friggin long.

There would still be good choices on the defensive side of the ball. Unless we do not sign a top shelf guard in FA, no way do I consider DeCastro, or any other guard at the 14 spot.

And if we don't address the O-Line in FA, I must assume the coaches are pleased with the players we have. On the other hand, if we get very active signing plenty of help for the defense in FA- then maybe O-line does place top priority on draft day.

Oh, my goodness. It is all speculation for now, anyway. But at this point, Kiper is full of crap in my opinion. ;)
