Kipers New Mock

That's a worst-case scenario.

I really hope that it isn't CB. Peterson at 9 isn't so bad, but trading up for Dareus or Watt or Quinn or even taking Jordan at 9 is preferable to Amukamara.

IMO, the problem with that is; if Peterson is there who is going to want to trade down rather than grab him?
Teams who can stockpile picks and still get Amukamara or Harris if they really need a CB.

A trade up from 9 to 7 wouldn't cost too much. I hope Buffalo does go QB. I think they should.

If Peterson is the #7 pick then we wouldn't be moving up to 7, we'd still be moving to #6 to take him ahead of the 49ers (in this case), I'd think.

Unless the 49ers didn't actually want him or were fine rolling the dice on Amukamara, thinking he was close enough skill wise.

If I'm sitting at 7 with Peterson ripe for the picking and some team calls me wanting my pick, I'd fleece them.

i can only hope that JJ will have enough sense not to fall in love with peterson (like many on this board obviously have) and try to trade up to get him. i hope he will remember that:

1. the game is won in the trenches and in being strong and stout up the middle
2. we have good enough CBs that if we upgrade our front 7 and create pressure from there, we dont need to waste a top 10 pick on a CB (who may actually turn out to be a FS project when all is said and done).

I don't understand the Prince hate, but I would prefer to trade down and grab B.Harris + a second

After that crappy year hes not exactly the most fun prize you know? A solid, B+ CB/FS w/ speed concerns

Not sure why anyone would settle for Amukamara when Peterson is on the board. They would have to get quite a bit in return IMO. Amukamara is that much of a step down.

Personally, I think Amukamara would be better as a safety. He just doesn't have the closing speed to be a CB in this league IMO.

jeez, it seems like about 90% of the mocks out there have us getting prince. I wish someone would take a stab at something different.

I would be happy with Amukamara. Has the potential to cover very well. Probably won't give you a lot of INTs, but QBs won't really want to throw over there either.

I'll ping Larry Asante on the Bucs to see what he thinks of Prince - they were teammates at Nebraska.

When he played Blackmon from OSU he got beat up on deep, high. You name it.

Needs safety help with bigger WR's.

He eats smaller quicker WR's with ease.

I think there are many options for the Cowboys and I think Prince is one of them. My own preferance would be trade out of the 9 spot pick up an extra pick and take the best OL player on the board however if Kiper is right I think Prince is a very good player and would not be upset with the pick.

Maybe as a safety and I don't like him at #9.

I'd be happy if we selected Prince. The only way I would trade down and select Harris is if Prince was already off the board. On a side note does anybody get the feeling that Prince and Brandon will be better pros than Patrick. Something about him just screams bust. I don't know what it is, I just don't have a good feeling about him.

Peterson looks like the Dez Bryant of CB's.

He may not be perfect at CB, but when he takes 2 punts and 1 kickoff for a TD he looks much better.

if the option is trade up to 7 for PP or stay at 9 and pick Prince I'd trade up....

and i am he most anti-trade up person ever.

i actually would expect PP to go much higher and the boys to trade down to at least 12 or so.

He is not a safety he is a CB . As I said it would not be my choice however he ranks as high as he does because most people think he is a top player.

What will be funny is like every other draft if we pass on him and he ends up being a stud some where else people will complain that we could have had him and passed and shows how much Jerry is an idiot. :laugh2:

were doomed ;) no matter what. we draft a cb or olb we will be getting ragged for not taking a o-line with such a obvious need . we take a o-lineman they say we "reached" and or should have traded down like it's so easy. such is the world now that we all have become master jedi's at second guessing

Until he gets to Dallas where fans will scream he should not return kicks or Punts. Dez is great at it and many get upset that he is taking on that duty. Funny every year during the draft the abilty to return plays a factor until the guy is drafted and then people get upset when they are returing punts and kicks. :laugh2:

i could care less about punts. (from a top 10 talent)

its about potential 3 years from now... at their main position

pp is big, fast, strong and quick. he can learn improved technique. he can get by with shoddy technique and still make plays for you and hold his own but he'll be outstanding once he plays with proper technique.

dez is an awesome return guy but in 2 years when he is our lead wr i doubt he returns more than 5 kicks a season.

just as dez is the best athlete we have at wr pp would the best we have at cb quite easily.

he wont ole tackle folks or get beat by 10 yards due to speed issues. i fully expect he'll occasionally be beaten by superior route-running early but his development is all in technique and recognition.

prince plays with better technique but he'll be out-athleted by bigger, stronger WR. pp can handle a dez bryant type athlete from a size and speed standpoint, prince probably can not.

pp did see green and julio a lot in college.

I agree. I see option for the Cowboys and while I have my own ideas of who we should take I don't act like it is the only option to us.
