Kirk and Lockett released

Lockett's a Seattle institution. I'm shocked they wouldn't bring him back on a minimum deal.

Not sure I like him in Dallas though. The way I see it, our window to compete is shut for about 2 more seasons, and so the focus should be on finding and develop young guys to build the core of our next contender. Lockett doesn't fit that mold.

Christian Kirk is the same sort of deal. He's a little younger, but his major value as a vet FA is that he's ready to play right now, and we're just not in a hurry. He's like the Door Dash of slot WRs, where you pay a premium to get a ready-made meal, and we're unemployed with a maxed out credit card. We have the time to cook up some $2 rice and beans.

That’s not how the nfl works. Look at Washington. Teams rebuild in one season and compete. This isn’t 20 years ago where it takes 5 years to build

Washington had the #2 overall pick and like $100M in cap space last year. They added an instant franchise QB and signed like 8 starters in 2024, and rolled out with a whole new team.

We don't have the cap space and we sure as heck don't have the franchise QB. Dak is like Cooper Rush but making $200M guaranteed. The way I see it, we're basically waiting out his and Schotty's contracts, and the distressing part is that we just signed both.

Several teams have shown you can go from the basement to real contenders in two years if you are smart.
Which of course lets us out...

Lockett even though injury prone of late is a solid performer, but price tag wise may be out of our reach

Though each would improve the WR group.....Kirk injuries are concerning.......Lockett, another short WR to replace Cooks?

Spot on post.
And depressing.

LOL
Cowboys!

Id be fine with adding Kirk. Hes still got gas in the tank for sure. It wouldnt stop us from going wr in the draft either

Any interest? I think both of them would be good number twos. Thoughts?

I think Kirk is a very good receiver but is always nursing injuries. I would love to have him here as a 2b, but I don't think his health will be reliable enough as a consistent option.

Lockett has been a good receiver for some time but there are signs he's slowing down. He's always been that under the radar guy that never garnered the true role of a bona-fide 1, but was always productive. It's very likely that he will be best as a #3 with some ability to play that #2 role over stretches.

The available WR class of veterans this year looks very interesting and I would be disappointed if the Cowboys didn't add a veteran guy opposite Lamb. Even if they didn't land one of the top guys having a #2 WR by committee with a Kirk/Lockett along with Tolbert, Turpin, and a day 2 rookie would atleast create a little more stability at the position. Its hard to get excited about the early WR draft class. McMillan has the production and the look of a possession receiver and may be the only WR that is worth an earlier pick. McMillan reminds me a lot of Mike Evans. Neither has top flight speed, but produces and wins balls in tight spaces.

The fewer the guys to throw to could be a good thing - truly build the offense into a run-first scheme and limit Dak to around 20 passes a game and we'll be in the playoffs, lol.
Totally disagree. You have to have as many weapons as possible. Eagles have two stud wide recievers and that sure did not stop them from running.

Dak is a franchise QB. Washington had a last place schedule for crying out loud. I am not going to crown them after one year. Our beat up team almost swept them last year.

They won two playoffs games…on the road. You don’t recognize that as significant because as a Cowboys fan you can’t recognize that at all.

Mingo sounds like Micky Mouse's illegitimate brother.
