According to Mike Wise of the Washington Post, Gruden himself has wrestled with the same conundrum since taking over the team.

Wise reports, via a person with knowledge of Gruden's thinking, the rookie head coach realized this summer Cousins was better suited to run the West Coast offense even if the exorbitant draft-pick investment in Griffin mandated staying the course.

Well, Duh. I think a lot of people knew this long before the season even started.

Mike Wise is an internet troll with a column. I would take everything he says with a grain of salt. His sole purpose in life is to stir up Commanders fans for hits on his baseless columns. I don't know if Dallas has an equivalent, but this guy is basically the Post's version of Skip Bayless. I am not sure even he believes half the crap he writes.

And for the record, I did not click on that article. I refuse to click on any Mike Wise column.

Yeah, Dallas has the equivalent....they are called ESPN and NFLNW.

What's so far fetched about it? I don't write for any newspaper and I can see the same things he writes about.

In any other scenario the pick of Kirk Cousins would make any owner/GM look like a draft genius, but somehow Snyder managed to have egg all over his face after making what would be an otherwise draft day coup. I can only laugh and that clown.

Well first of all, what is far-fetched is that Mike Wise has a source in the coaching staff. That is almost impossible considering he has gone to war on the team name and criticized the team's every move since he stopped using the team name in print. Many members of a coaching staff may have a certain member of the press they leak things to, Shanahan had Adam Schefter. But Mike Wise, and every sportswriter at the Washington Post, are blackballed with the Commanders organization. If the Skins could bar them from press conferences and coming to games they would.

Furthermore, Griffin played well during the regular season before his ankle injury. If Cousins stinks it up in the next 5 weeks than you can guarantee Griffin will be starting when he's healthy. If Cousins looks like tom Brady replacing Drew Bledsoe than it's a no-brainer you stick with him.

That has nothing to do with anything. Blackballed because they post truth.

Anyways, my point was you can see what he was saying. It's clear as day.

Get used to your new QB. RGIII will be a Raider soon. Well... Maybe in a year or two. A few more injuries before they ship him off all band aided together making like he is still quality starting QB.

What's even funnier about this entire situation is that RGIII was not Shannahan's pick. It was the pick of the organization. Shannahan's pick was Cousins. One of the chief reasons Shannahan got fired was because he wanted to change the offense and move it towards something the required less exposure to hits on RG3. RG3 didn't want to change the way he played and as a result, Shannahan is gone and RG3 is now gone with another season ending injury. Cousins will now be relied upon to take the Skins to the playoffs.

Ultimate irony if Cousins actually does manage to accomplish this. I don't know if Shannahan will be laughing or crying.
