That's the key, I think it would be a roster churning move. Keith showed his age last year and is a Wade's guy, familiar in Wade's scheme. Kirk is more athletic and is a Ryan's guy, familiar in Rob's scheme.

There is this strange belief around here that a FA must be brought in to start and must be one of the top 5 names or he cant help.

Yep. We're going to need another starting-capable ILB with Lee in the lineup, anyway.

Morrison used to be on the radio from time to time when he was in the Bay Area. He's a smart dude, and a great, team-first guy. At a time when it wasn't easy to be team-first in Oakland. I'd love to have him here.

He was a guy I watched this year because in part of moving down to Orlando and catching Jaguars games and in part because I thought he was a good player that I couldn't believe was practically given away by the Raiders (he's also a local Oakland boy, who grew up with Raiders season tickets, which surprised me him being traded away). I actually thought he played quite well. I believe he's an RFA though. I don't think the Jags are desparate to keep him, but would probably like him to stay around.

He's played 6 seasons, that should make him free even if they play without a CBA.

5 lbs lighter than bradie james who most would say want a faster linebacker.

Morrison hasn't missed a game in his career, so my guess is he could hold up

From what I gather we are going to have an overhaul of our defensive philosiphy.


Much more deception and not just line up a guy here and run him into a wall over and over again.

Bodies and rotation players will be more important than ever if there's an 18 game season and the roster expands next year.
 
my point wasnt that james wasnt better than brooking rather that Sean Lee would be Brookings replacement and Morrison would be James' or vice versa.

You can just about guarantee that Ryan is going to bring in at least one LB who knows his scheme and expectations so if we could bring Morrison in I wouldn't be surprised, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Jax or somebody else paid him more to be a higher profile starter rather than splitting plays with Sean Lee here.
 
Why would he come here? We have two competent ILB's in james and lee...

Unless we trade bradie james...

Considering no team thought he was worth a 5th round pick 10 months ago, he's probably not going to have the entire NFL beating down his door for his services. Why would he come here? For a chance to compete for a starting spot and be reunited with a coach that believes in him and has gotten the best out of him. Even if they give Lee the job without making him compete for it, what has Lee done to suggest he's going to be a 16 game starter next year? Dude can't make it 50 plays without suffering an injury.

Competition is a great thing! How many positions were actually open for competition last year? Left Tackle and....that's it. Not good. Only your best and most dedicated like Ware, Witten, and Romo should feel safe.

Great point, but I don't think we're going to be giving anybody jobs anymore like we've done the last few years.

I just don't think that's how Garrett operates.

Then why not bring Morrison in to push James/Lee for a starting job?

You just said no one would be "Given" a starting job so I don't see a problem with bringing Morrison in.


I'd rather have someone better but he's solid. He's nothing special, but he's better than Brooking.
