Finally got to see kirkpatrick in some of the position drills. For some reason nfl network didn't show him doing them all.
The part I saw he looked good. I wanted to see his hips and how he moves in space. He looked real good. Kept his hips low and good backpedal and didn't lose much speed when he flipped his hips to turn and run. I wish he would have done the cone ad shuttle drills but he sold me in the position drills. My crow taste good. He now is in my top 5 for #14

I don't know about all that, about any guy in the combine. The combine is supposed to confirm what you see on film.

If he's all of a sudden super fluid, etc. when he wasn't on tape, then it could be more of a case of Combine-prep instead of actual on-field habits.

Wonder what kind of drills he'll do at Alabama's Pro Day. That'll be more telling than the combine, IMO.

He's always had fluid hips.

Folks just went into a canned kneejerk response mode when they saw his listed height of 6'3" (6'1 1/2" in reality) and assumed he's stiffed hipped like a lot of taller athletes.

Kirkpatrick is not a big-bodied guy. He's really narrow like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The combine did do that for me. To many times in games he played up and zone and never stayed with his man for a long time due to Alabama great defense.
That was my question mark about him going into the combine due to his size.

It was just his size, at Alabama he played a lot of zone and that defense was so good that he didnt have to stay on his man long enough to really see if he could. I was going to say he could until I saw the drill. He was burnt a few times by Florida when he was playing on a faster wr. I wanted to see how he moved before going all in on him. Claiborne and Jenkins were both more fluid but kirkpatrick looked good to me about the same as gilmore in the drills did who I had the same questions about.

Whatever the case....

Props to you for at least acknowledging it.

I said I would. This is all I wanted to see and I saw it.

That's a very good comparison, btw. They look very similar.

Kirkpatrick is alot more physical than DRC ever was. I went to some TCU games when DRC was here at TSU in Nashville. DRC has a better back pedel and even better hips. DRC was so fluid he made Deion have a bromance for the kid at the combine that year. Deion couldn't stop talking about him.

I don't see the comparison.

Nah, just that physically they look similar. Not talking about their skills at all.

Ok I can see that. I think this CB class is so deep right now. Gilmore is far off the top three. I also like Bentley and Fleming, Hosley, and Boykin. If the rumors are true and we get Carr in FA I don't see the 14th pick being a CB. Dallas will get one in the 2nd or 3rd to play #4 CB this year that can become a starter and push Jenkins for the #2 spot.

Agree, definitely. I expect us to get a free agent CB and draft pick at CB...The quality we get in free agency will determine where we go in the draft.

Kirkpatrick at #14 makes me uneasy, but I think DeCastro, Kuechly, Ingram and Poe will be gone. I'm tending to agree with BP: If we pick at #14, it's looking like Hightower. Not sure how I feel about that.

My first thought when I saw him early on when he was being hyped up is he had stiff hips and looked more like a safety or zone corner.

I never assumed it. I just spotted it when I saw him play.

Post 18 for proof.

I seriously doubt that all four of those will be gone but I guess it's possible.

My opinion of Kirkpatrick is that what you see is what you get with him. He is not going to be a guy who improved dramatically IMO. He is more fast then quick I think. I have watched him play and I don't believe that he sinks his hips and turns as well as you might like but on the other hand, he is much more physically capable of jamming a WR. There is give and take there. He does not have good technique as far as tackling goes. I am afraid that he will injure himself or basically miss tackles if he does not correct this. Tackling is about want to and Kirkpatrick does not look to me as if he wants to get in there and really stick guys. It could be a business decision type thing for him, IDK.

I would not be disappointed if Kirkpatrick were the guy we took. He would not be my first choice but he would be OK with me.

Wow, I don't think you could be anymore off the mark on the kid ABQ. Take a look at this clip.

Kirkpatrick may be the best tackling CB in the draft, and "want to" is not an issue. Part of the reason why folks think he should move to safety is because he is a good tackler.

- Take a look at the :10, :21, :30 marks on this clip.

- Look at him plant and click on this play and tell me his not quick :21.

I think if all those are gone you trade down and try and get more value out of the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

This is a deep draft outside of pass rushers and tight ends.
