Already did. Some 35 year old they put on the practice squad could now be called up to be the #3. I forget his name but there was a post about him earlier today.

Has been playing in the AFL and UFL he was with Dallas last season

He was with Dallas thanks in part to his strong showing in the UFL, Greisen was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on December 27, 2010. He was called up to the active roster on December 31, 2010.

So evidently this had to do with the team being familiar with him. This late in the season you will not find much out there

I would think he will only be here for the remainder of the season beyond that given his age he will be gone after the season.

I'm sure he is. He has bounced around the AFL and UFL and getting to play a game he loves and now a role on an NFL team I'm sure he is grateful to get the opportunity.

I am kind of surprised that it took them this long to put him on IR. I have to imagine they did not really expect him to be able to come in and play even if Romo went down.
