Wasn't so sure about him....until I really watched him last night. He's impressive. Add him to the list of the can't pass on D lineman.

He is ABSOLUTELY this years Ziggy Ansah..........the production numbers aren't super, but you can just see the "he has IT" factor. And, Ansah came right in and doubled his entire college sack total this year alone. I'm on board with this guy as a Cowboy as well.

Ziggy was next to Fairley and Suh though...

I watched the game last night, admittedly didn't focus at all on Ealy, but he didn't pop out at all.

I did notice he had one sack where he was completely unblocked. He might have had another one.

Again, I was watching but more of my attention was on the Clemson/OSU game last night. Before anybody asks...yes, I have two screens, side by side...

Missouri redshirt junior DL Kony Ealy will enter the NFL Draft.
Ealy received a third- to fourth-round projection prior to last year's draft, but his play improved this season and he could wind up as a top-20 selection. For a big frame he can win on the edge and offers some versatility to line up inside. The Dallas Cowboys could be very interested. Jan 4 - 11:40 AM

If we can someone find some cap relief and can snag Melton and/or a top flight DE Free Agent then have this guy fall in our lap....man oh man barring injuries we'd have ourselves one heck of a rotation on the Dline barring injuries of course.

Kony Ealy - DL - Tigers
NFL.com's Charles Davis believes Missouri DL Kony Ealy might project as a pass rushing outside linebacker in the NFL.

"Ealy finished the season a lot stronger than (Michael) Sam and, at this point, it looks like he has better potential at the next level, potentially as a 3-4 outside 'backer," Davis writes. Ealy's projection will likely be all over the board, but we see him more as a large defensive end who moves inside in sub-package situations. There is a chance he is a top-20 pick.

That's an interesting comparison. I just watched a couple games of his and I see it too. Long, explosive and raw. He definitely isn't as naturally strong as Ansah though... Ziggy had no idea what he was doing but consistently jolted guys backward when he was decisive. His closing burst was also utterly ridiculous. Kony Ealy has very nice athleticism and closing burst but the raw power and explosion isn't quite at Ziggy's level. Then again, we don't have the 5th pick, so we shouldn't expect Ziggy. I see the makings of a Justin Tuck-like guy who can be moved around the DL.

Overall I like the kid. Long frame with the ability to put on muscle, and if Rod can teach him some counter moves and to not stand straight up out of his stance, he can be a weapon for us.

Draft him in round 1, and draft Michael Sam after him and put them next to each other and watch them whip offensive linemen.

Rejuvenated DeMarcus Ware, Tyrone Crawford, Nick Hayden and Ben Bass and Selvie in rotation. Lets go win a bunch of games.

You're the second Zoner I've seen suggest Sam can play DT. He'd have to gain about 30 lbs and I just don't see that. I know teams are looking at him as a linebacker but he could just end up being a smaller DE like Trent Cole and Elvis Dumervil.

Rejuvenated DeMarcus Ware - hopefully
Tyrone Crawford - to be determined
Nick Hayden - JAG
Ben Bass - eh, outside of Jerry-instructed praise, I don't know why so many fans keep predicting him to be anything special
Selvie - definitely earned a chance to come back and compete for a job next year

Last, that's an awful lot of Pac-12 in your signature mock. I approve.

Sam (6-2, 255) as a DT seems highly unlikely.

Oh yeah. I don't think they need to gain that much weight. I would much rather have an extremely quick, athletic line than a bunch of big guys.

As would Marinelli, to a certain extent. I'm not saying a 285 lb. DT like Donald is actually preferred... more accurate to say this staff doesn't view it as nearly as much of a knock-worthy trait as most others. We're very open-minded to undersized DL as long as they're explosive.

He's 6'2" 255, he'd have to gain 30 lbs just to be considered a small DT and at that point, he'd probably lose some of his burst. I just don't/can't see him as a DT.
