A look at this kid stats ( see rotoworld address) over last over the last four years leaves you scratching your head a bit. Not sure if he was injured quite a bit or Panther's scheme but stats suggest little impact. I know stats don't always tell the pic but looking at this, I'm not sure he's a lock to make the team. He was 2nd in the league in badding down passes last year with a total of 9.

Kony's on a 1-year contract, so he'll be obliged to put his best foot forward to find success in Dallas, not to mention staying there for a bigger contract. He'll likely be part of a rotation this year and the competition to get a generous number of reps promises to be intense, imho. I'm looking forward to seeing how our DEs fare this year and feel reasonably confident that they'll provide a nice step up from what we've had in the recent past. I think Kony may be a significant part of the DE rotation but that answer is yet to come in training camp. It should be an intriguing aspect of TC to keep up with.

Actually it is looking a heck of a lot better than it has. There are still a bunch of question marks out there. Tapper, Gregory, Tyrone, Taco...

We play 8 on the DL. Lets look at what we have and see where he fits in terms of roster spots. I think if he isnt in the top 8 we cut him for a cheaper player

DE-
Lawrence
Charlton
Crawford

DT
Collins
Irving

Those apear to be your locks for the 8 man gameday rotation. Thats 3 players left to get snaps and probably 5 more roster spots

DE-
-Elay. The most accomplished player we having vying for snaps
-Gregory. The most talent player we have vying for snaps. But no one knows what he will be able to do after so much time off. Will probably make 53 even if he isnt top 8
-Armstrong. 4th round pick. Contender for playing but should make 53 even if not top 8
-Tapper. Physically gifted but has had some injury issues the last two years. Still cheap, but could get squeezed out

DT-

-Ward. Good draft pedigree and very gifted. He is a player to watch in camp
- Price. Played well in limited time and could a 2 down run plugger.
-Jones. First round reclaimion project. A good camp and preseason should him on the 53
-Neal. Looked good last preseason and spent some time on the active roster. The ttpe of undersized penetrator they like

Of that list, I can confidently say Armstrong and Gregory will make the 53 even if they arent top 8. That leaves us with 3 open spots ( assuming we go 10). At which point I think they keep 1 DE and 2 DT's. Saying that I think Elay is competing with Tapper for a spot. I would give Elay the advantage, as he is more experienced and has a better shot of finishing preseason in the 8 man rotation.

A bit too early to suggest anyone is on the bubble. I think he has more of a shot to make the team than people seem to think. Cheap contract and the Cowboys did try to get him last year off waivers so they seem to like him!

A lot can happen from today until start of season. Injuries always play a role. On the bubble after first ota's seems a tad premature.

He had a great Super Bowl and has done nothing else. Of course he’s on the bubble.

He better be.

We’re probably going to cut a decent DE this year. Maybe we’ll be able to flip a player or two for some decent players where we’re thin like S or LB once things start to shake out.
