That is pretty much standard for a first offense. One DUI offense can happen from one lapse in judgment and the courts tend to be pretty lenient with first offenders and rightfully so. Actually most first offenders are not given any jail time except for the initial night in jail after their arrest; community service is much more common. Most people learn their lesson after one run-in with the law on this issue and there is no point in ruining their lives by costing them their jobs and possibly their families with harsher sentences.

However, for repeat offenders I will agree with you. If they don't learn the first time then it is time for stronger measures. So is Robinson a repeat offender or not (or was he before this last incident)?

Thanks LTN...but by repeat offender I mean DUI offenses not league policy violations etc. We all know he is a problem child, but the courts have to go on his rap sheet not his NFL policy violations.

Don't be offended, (I am as poor a typist as you are) but I had to clean that up to understand it.

Now I can respond to it.

He's being sent to jail for all of one day, not because he drinks, but because he chose to drink and drive. I think at least 29 more days would have helped to send that message home.

The NFL Program on prevention and treatment of substance abuse is reputedly pretty good. I am sure everyone from his agent to the league itself is trying to help this guy rehabilitate himself.

I don't normally rank on typo's and spellint dargon that had to be the worst slew of posts I've EVER seen. Try Hot Lingo - its a nice spell check add on to your browser. I'm bad as well - type real fast and occasionally get letters ahead of each other.

On Koren's issues, he's trying to drink his problems away and its snowballing on him. Read Bob Welch the A's pitcher book called "Five O'clock comes early" A must raed on professional athletes and drinking problems.
