To me, this guy is my dream nose tackle to be in the middle of our defense.

He's just turning 32 and that's still at the prime for NTs. He's had 2 ACL surgeries but if he's rehabbed well enough then we could get a steal to rotate at NT with Brent, and move Rat to end, in this more 2 gapping style Ryan is going to play.

I know what Ryan said about not moving Rat to end, but to me, there might be some semantic play in that. "keeping him at defensive tackle" like Ryan said might just be a reference to his scheme.

I don't think 32 is at the prime for a nose tackle. Especially one who has had to overcome the injuries he has had. He could be good depth if the price is right, but I would not take him with the expectation of him being the clear starter.

I would.

I just wouldn't take him while fully depending on him to be the sole NT. I think Brent can grow into the job, that's why I'll sign this guy to be in a rotation.

But he came off his first ACL tear and was back to his dominant self in training camp and the preseason with the Jets last year, and that was with less time to rehab than he would this time around.

Nose tackles, especially the big, strong ones who take up space, are still in their primes in their early to mid thirties. They mostly hold their ground and don't still require much of the athleticism and quickness of youth needed to penetrate.

If he's at a reasonable price (and healthy of course), he could be a nice rotational player at this point in his career.

We could pick up both Jenkins brothers (Kris and Cullen) and between the two of them plan on getting 16 healthy games....

Both are VERY good when they are healthy.

This. This. This. A real nice rotational player. Plus I think being part of a rotation instead of being the man might help those knees.

I love Kris Jenkins but I don't think he has much left. When healthy he was as good as any NT/DT in the game today but he has missed essentially 4 years due to injury. Unless he was willing to come in as a backup, at backup pay, I don't see the need to bring him in.

I wonder what kind of psychological frame of mind he's in. Jenkins has missed some serious time due to injuries and rehab ain't fun. I don't claim to know where he's at, but at his age he could be having second thoughts.

i treat his mother in law in my office in maryland and she said he wants to come home and play for the skins

I like the bottom line grit and confidence he would add for short yardage and red zone situations.

If the sting of injury was stronger than his drive for the sport at this point in his career, I wouldn't even give him a thought.

Really?

I won't ask the nature of work you do because that probably violates the doctor (assumption)-patient confidentiality but I guess that makes the Skins preferable to us in his view.

Thanks for the info.

From the recent articles I read about him, he's coming back for sure and should be ready by training camp.

The only discernible determining factor I gathered was that he doesn't want to play on the field turf at the Meadowland stadium. From what I inferred, he kind of attributed his injury to that. We use matrix real grass at Cowboys stadium so that might be a bit enticing.

Although the Skins use real grass and I just heard he wants to go back home.

His little brother might be a better fit with us.
