I would give a look see for sure. Two years ago BP labeld him the best DT in football. Great size and strenght.

Was his injury the same knee/leg two years in a row. Any details on that ?

What is his health status now ?

You know for a fact he played NG in college?

I'd suggest you make absolutely sure about that before making that claim.

Either way, the things that make him appealing (aka his STYLE of play) don't fit at Nose Guard. At NG your job is to eat blocks, not shoot the gaps (which is what Jenkins excels at).

Not to mention his very severe and recent injury history.

Jenkins was in fact a NT at Maryland.

You're the one who is making the incorrect assumptions. Very few players have the ability to hold up at the point as a NT in a 3-4 and the ability to shoot gaps/get after the QB when the opportunity presents itself. Just because others can't doesn't mean that Jenkins can't.

If Dallas gets the oppertunity to get Jenkins I think it would be a great pickup for them. He is still in the prime of his career, at 6'04" 335 that would put another big body on the line of scrimmage and in the 3-4 having some big bodies on the line is important

I agree with you on the injury front and that should be looked into but when the guy is on the field he can be a force on the defensive front.

Assuming you got a 60 - 40 split between base package and nickel, if you were to just let Jenkins have LeRoi's old spot and let him split NG snaps in the base and play full time in the nickel, he would play 70% of the defense snaps. Which is probably right at the number you would want.

Having Fergy and Jenkins next to each other in the 4 man line nickel protects you against the run in 3 WR sets to the point that you could do some creative things behind them ... like play Roy as a linebacker.

I don't think he has to play the NG position. In the 3-4 the DE is playing inside and having 3 big guys up front would help the LB out quite a bit.

I'm sure he might get better offers than this but because of his injury history, I'd offer him a 1-year contract that is heavily incentivized, ie. gets $$ if he plays 16 games or more $$ if he makes the Pro Bowl, etc. with a low base salary, or a two-year with a team option on the 2nd year. I'm kind of thinking he played well in the 4-3 in large part due to the presence of Mike Rucker beside him. I'd wonder how well he'd do having to take on 2 blockers every down as the NT in a 3-4 instead of just one like he did in the 4-3.
