Kris Richard era begins

rob is the dc though. Any proof this is his era or just hope?

Take it as you will, but take notice of the draft day call with Vander Esch. Marinelli briefly speaks with him before handing the phone to Kris Richard to handle most of the talking.

That said a lot to me and between that and Marinelli's glowing remarks about Richard, I'm seeing a passing of the torch this year.

And keep in mind that Marinelli nearly retired prior to this season. No matter what, he's not long for this league.

You can just feel that this guy is about serious business.

I think that Richard was the hire of this offseason. And I'm still amazed that Seattle somehow let him go. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe got rid of him because he saw him as a possible threat to his head coaching job up there. Otherwise, I see no reason why he would have been replaced, much less with Ken Norton.

I consider it a certainty that he replaces Rod Marinelli after this season, and possibly Jason Garrett as the next head coach.

I think the issue is how the team responds this season...as to Garrett. But stash, aren't you getting a tad excited with the prospect of watching the secondary progress and how the pass defense evolves?

Edit: I have to think he was a threat to Carroll.

Good points. Tomlin did the same to Bruce Arians at Pittsburg. Pete might be getting nervous.

Bennett, Avril, and Sherman are gone. ET has one foot out the door. They blew up the defense he was instrumental in building. I can understand why he would want to leave by that alone.

Whatever the reason, it's the Cowboys gain and the Seahawks loss.

I'm excited to see this defense in September.

Same here. I expect Richard to have a huge influence.

It's just me speculating, but I think this defense is being "split up" in terms of roles and responsibilities, and I feel that Marinelli is essentially going to focus on what he does best and coach the defensive line with the lion's share being given to Richard.
