It's all good. They can call plays like it's an offense. Two plays in one call. One guy can call a cover 0 blitz and the other guy can call drop 8 coverage. Then whatever call the green dot guy likes between the two they check into. It'll work.................. probably not

This is not about Richard, but I have been wondering this since Payton stepped down.

I wonder if the Saints are going to play-to-lose next season so they can get a high draft pick and try to entice Payton to return in 2023 with it?

You've got multiple coaches responsible for that, including our Dan Quinn. Plus, the head coach, Pete Carroll, is a former secondary coach and defensive coordinator, so it's likely the bulk of the credit should go to him. At the same time, Seattle had the players to be the Legion of Boom. Scheme is important, but talent is even more important.

After Richard took over as defensive coordinator for Quinn, it didn't take long for Seattle to start slipping on defense, leading to Richard being fired in 2017. He certainly wasn't able to duplicate his success here, but I don't know how much of that was due to Marinelli.
