I was listening to the Gary Kubiak radio show yesterday afternoon. He mentioned the long TD to Roy was actually a called running play, but Romo and Roy made a site adjustment based on the Texans saftey alignment.

If you watch the highlights again, you can clearly see all of the receivers are run blocking and it even looks like Barber is expecting the handoff. I cannot see enough of the highlight to determine if Romo signaled Roy, but they were clearly on the same page which is nice to see since Roy gets so much crap. I thought it was interesting to listen to the opposing coach mention this. If you want to hear Kubiak discuss the play you can visit their website and click the "Day-after thoughts" link. He discusses the play at the 3:35 mark.

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed.

Not only did they communicate between each other but Roy made said that Romo waved him off the fade route (which he was calling for instead of the slant) TWICE and told him to run the slant.

That's the beautiful thing about football. No only once, but those guys communicated twice while I was eating chips on my couch, looking at the ball, waiting for Gurode to snap it.

It was definately supposed to be a run play. Andre Gurode was down field blocking the MLB. He could've easily been flagged for being illegally down field.

So this means the opposition knows what plays the Cowboys are running.

No, it means the opposition can review film and tell from the players' assignments what was supposed to happen vs. what did happen.

True.

Same book, same chapter, same page, same paragraph, same sentence, and same word. Romo and Roy are starting to get in sync this has the makings of a great season. If Roy starts influencing coverages the way Miles and the emerging Dez; it will prove to be too much for DCs to handle and could easily propel Romo to MVP consideration because of the year he will be assured to have. Red need to stay balance and barring serious OLine injuries Romo should have another record breaking year.

Bennett had few good catches too. Add him to that mix with Witten and Romo will be MAD BALLIN'.

This is a prime example of why you can't simply bash play calling by looking at a box score and judging the amount of runs to passes.

If Roy slips and Romo throws a pick, everyone would be screaming that we needed to run the ball, when indeed that was the call.

No, we'll be MartyBallin!

Weak, I know, but I've been very impressed with MartyB this season so far. He's gotten down to business and is playing very smart and concentrated.

It also establishes that when your running game is a threat, it keeps teams off balance.

Then explain how the Packers were able to still use play-action last night when their running game was non-existent?

Even the announcers make comments about that.

It means they could tell everyone else was expecting a run on our team being that they watched the play live.

Some QB's can sell the play fake even when the run isn't working well, Peyton does it all the time.

some teams will use play action on 3rd and 20 like someone really thinks they are going to run it. It may have something to do with why Rodgers has taken alot of sacks over the last couple of years.

I know many hate Joe Buck.

But... when he makes the call.... its just good theatre

ROMO TO WILLIAMS, DOWN THE RIGHT SIDELINE... TOUCHDOWN!!! ... the LEGEND of TONY ROMO just grew a little more

Yes and no. They can tell it was a run play based on formation and what happened after the ball is hiked. Also he is indirectly giving props to Romo and Roy for adjusting on the fly.
