Kwity Paye

What don’t you like about Paye? I used to be the same way just glancing at his numbers. But you have to look beyond the numbers. He only had 2 sacks this year but that was in 4 games. He had 30 something pressures in those 4 games. I think he has both a high floor and a high ceiling. He’s already very good against the run and with all that athleticism he could be a freak of a pass rusher (6.5 sacks last year). He’s also very versatile. Rushed from all over at UM.

These three things stand out to me. And unlike David Irving he seems to love the game.

  • Quickness could unlock rush success as interior rusher.
  • Secondary rush effort lasts game in and game out.
he might be better-suited as a reduced rusher on passing downs, where his quickness could overwhelm guards.

In that same mock draft, at #14, Jeremiah has the Vikings taking Jaelan Phillips, & he states that Phillips is most talented edge rusher in the draft.

Edge rusher is an impact player, & Phillips is the best in the class.
Phillips is a better run stopper, has a more advanced tools in the pass-rushing game, & is more physically gifted than Paye.

At #10, Phillips would be the BPA over Paye.

It's all projection based on attributes. He doesn't know how to rush the passer, today. Don't take a pass rusher who doesn't know how to rush the passer at 10.

If we were picking in the late teens or 20s I could probably get on board, but not at #10.

people think Taco Charlton when they hear Paye. Couldnt be further from the truth. He is vastly better NOW than Taco was or ever will be. He has a stout frame, very heavy handed power rusher than can get push anywhere along the dline. His versatility alone makes him intriguing. He is very good against the run as a 1 tech. He can hold the edge well too. He may not be Dware, but thats not what he is. He is more a power guy off the edge. He's similar to Jim Jeffcoat...nothing flashy or overwhelming but just a good ball player. Not sure hes worth a top 10 pick, but he is an option...oh and he does have freakish athletic ability..so he has the tools to get better.

Paye actually reminds me a lot of post contract extension DLaw. Very good vs the run and has the size, speed, and power to be disruptive and get in the backfield to make plays...but I don’t see a high end edge rusher

Potential draft pick getting some ties to Dallas,, do your own homework if you want a link, its getting
mention on NFL network, if that means anything,, just thought I would share his BIO,, and the fact that
this player is rarely if ever mentioned,, interesting prospect no doubt.

He's actually been discussed here quite a bit, it's just been some time because his hype has died since people dove into his tape.

Literal worst possible pick to me.

Couldn't be worse than PAYE.
wrong. Parsons would be worse. Edge is a down year this year so its him in round 1 at edge or your waiting til later. Linebacker is fairly deep and no need to reach on Parsons at 10.

Daniel Jeremiah was trying to change up his draft choices for the Cowboys because he mocked Surtain to the Cowboys twice already. There is not any information/rumor that the Cowboys are interested in Paye. If the Cowboys take a pass rusher at 10 it will be the pass rusher from Miami, Phillips.

I’ll give you that Paye is a better athlete than Charlton but he certainly wasn’t as productive as Charlton was. Paye is a lot of projection.

Taco Charlton

Paye is not Taco Charlton. Paye has a high energy level and is a much stronger player. Charlton ran a 4.92 at the combine and did only 25 reps. Paye ran a 4.52 and did 36 reps at his pro-day. Charleton is 4 inches taller.

Paye reminds me of Brandon Graham more than Taco Charlton. The more I watch his highlights the more I like Paye. He got a lot of attention from opposing offensive lines and was fairly successful.

Do I want Paye at #10? NO! But if they pick him I think he will be a pretty good player. The problem is with Lawrence and Gregory, he will be coming off the bench and maybe playing 35% of snaps. Surtain will start at outside CB and play every down like a #10 pick should. The same would be true with Horn or even Farley.
