The evidence I have backing up why he needs to go.

VS. New York Giants 1/13

Play #1

4th Quarter 6:18 1st & 10

Description:: Kyle Kosier pushed Strahan over Marion Barber. Also Tony Romo should have got rid of the ball. That's one of the things he needs to work on towards next year.

Play #2

4th Quarter 4:16 1st & 10

Description:: Tony Romo threw the ball out of bounds. Romo needs to learn the rules meaning if you're not getting rushed by nobody don't throw the ball away to an area where no one is.

Play #3

4th Quarter 4:03 3rd & 20

Description:: Kyle Kosier didn't get the block on Justin Tuck long enough for Tony Romo could make an accurate throw. Justin Tuck looked confused and Kyle Kosier just hesitated when he did that instead of going right at him. Kyle Kosier has got to go.

Play #4

4th Quarter :26 2nd & 11

Description:: Flozzell "The Cream Of Beat" Adams got beat by U see me know ya. U see me know ya hit Romo as he was throwing the ball.

Play #5

4th Quarter :21 3rd & 11

Description:: Romo threw the ball but it was incomplete to Patrick "The Talker Not The Walker" Crayton. Crayton hesitated instead of running his route. He just looked at the ball go over his head.

Play #6

4th Quarter :16 4th & 11

Description Three Wide Receivers, One Running back, And One Tight End. Wow! Thanks alot Jason Garrett. Why not five Wide Receivers including Jason Witten?. And Romo told the people on the TV he seen Terry Glenn singled covered. Hmmmm... From the looks of this play Crayton was single covered in the upper part of the screen. What a lie for a quarterback.... He don't think nothing of the fans, media, etc goes back over those plays.

I agree 100%, it has been one of the first changes I have called for in numerous posts. He gets pushed around like a bad drug. You don't hear people talking about him much because he hardly draws flags like a Flozell Adams and he never dominates his opposition so there is not much to talk about unless your watching the OL play and the reason for play after play breaking down.

Looks like Kosier is the weak link in the OL.

But with the possibility of Flo moving on, do we risk losing the entire left side of the OL?

Either way, an upgrade is important. But I don't see his replacement on the team yet ... maybe through draft or FA.

Well, lets hope one of our draft picks can put him on the bench because we can't afford to dip into FA for our OL. I think serviceable is the best way to describe Kyle.

If you all remember, last year in preseason the coaching staff planned to give McQuistan some playing time at OG possibly to give Kosier some competition cause it sure wasn't to help Bigg Davis. Weren't able to do that since both Adams and Colombo missed some time while they healed and Free/McQuistan had to step in for them. Depending on what happens re Adams, it possible McQuistan could replace Kosier at LG. Don't forget McQuistan did play a lot of OG in college. 06 3rd pick OT Marten also played lot of OG in college so he could also get a look at OG to compete against Kosier. Of course it possible that OG/C Proctor could earn the chance to compete against Kosier. compete against Kosier

I am eager to see what Free and McQuistan can bring to the table. We have heard a lot about them over the last year or so. The little bit that I saw Marten play last year (at right tackle) he was getting pushed around quite a bit. Hopefully he will get better with time.

I saw what McQ can do against the Commanders, and it's not alot.

I don't think he's more than depth.

I'm hoping Free and Marten can step it up next year.

Can't have Pro Bowlers at every Position, Kosier is OK and he's signed for a reasonable price, plus he seems durable.

I'd still like to see an upgrade. The OL was pretty porous against the Giants in the 2nd half of the game. They couldn't contain a cup of water.

Nothing wrong with getting a solid OG prospect in the draft.

I agree. Now if the Cowboys can upgrade the position from within or with a draft pick then great but at this time I expect Kosier will enter training camp as the starter, if someone can take the job from him great.

what's funny eddie is more than a year ago i didn't care much for kosier. i said our line had made improvements but wasn't there yet and romo's scrambling ability was giving us a false sense of security that wouldn't last.

man i took some heat for that one. well, calling kosier a scrub or something like that didn't help - but he's sure a goat now. but unless we know someone can do better, this firesale of players is just stupid.

so many people want xyz player gone w/o consideration of salary cap, who'd replace him, and so forth.

Umm...you don't seem to have even mentioned Kosier in four of the six plays you cited. Why include them at all?

Btw, for the record on "play #2" Romo did know the rule, it was the official who was confused.

http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/intentionalgrounding
  1. Intentional grounding will be called when a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage due to pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion.
The key here is "facing an imminent loss of yardage". You can't have intentional grounding if there isn't a defender near the qb, that's why you routinely see NFL QB's fire the ball out of bounds in that situation.

Marten was drafted this year...

you must be thinking of someone else.

He was still at BC.

Not sure what the problem was on Sunday, but our OL has been pretty solid all year long...especially the first two games against the Giants. Let's not over-react. I would like to keep them all and get Flozell a better hearing aid.

Jerry ... your first mistake was to question a Cowboys player. Didn't you know they're all the best at their position? The simple fact that they wear the silver and blue makes them the best in the NFL.

Did you also know that OL-men hit their prime at 40 and TO has a body of a teenager which makes him able to play until he's 50?

Did you also know that the Cowboy backups were going to whoop up a 30 point beating on the Commanders? The sole reason behind that logic was because the backups were Cowboys.

So if you ever decide to use reason in Cowboyland, prepare to be lambasted or placed on ignore.

I was going to PM you about hooking up in Dallas to watch the Super Bowl. But I had to make sure we made it first. :( Maybe next year.

Every position except QB, outside LB, and RCB can be upgraded, whether through FA or the draft. If a guard can be found in the first two rounds that would send Kosier to the bench right away, so be it.

Sorry, by last year I was referring to 2007...I didn't think he played all that great in one of our pre-season games...
