It's certainly odd that every time we lose Kosier, the entire line goes to crap.

In 2008 when Kosier missed the first two games, we beat the Browns 28-10 and the Eagles 41-37.

In the Browns game we ran up 487 yds and 30 first downs. In the Eagles game. In the Eagles game we had 380 yds and 20 first downs, and Romo threw for over 300 with 3 tds.

As sorry as Cory Proctor was, he started those two games.

Kosier was out 13 games in 2008. Congratulations on pointing out that we overcame his absence in these two games.

Kyle missed 13 games in '08. He missed the first two games, as you mention, came back when he wasn't ready for one game, and then missed the next 11. We missed him a lot more than anybody expected during that stretch.

Now that Kyle Kosier is hurt no 1 is making the line calls and look how much we struggled, we need 2 pick some 1 up that makes line calls cuz if he goes down agian then the O-line is screwed.

So the question is who can we pick up? Or is there some 1 on the team that can step up and do this???
cory proctor...

Is he going to miss 13 games again this year?

In addition, it was a collection of injuries to a number of players, most important was Romo's injury which crippled the team. Not just the loss of Kosier. We lost Felix Jones for the year. Barber got hurt later that yr and was never the same. Several other played played through injuries.

When we had everybody healthy, the team was playing fine even without Kosier.

The OL wasn't. The team was good, and able to compensate for losing an OG, but having Kosier out of the lineup was a much bigger adjustment for us than anybody expected.

The perpetual overrating of Kyle Kosier continues

You're the only one who doesn't grasp Kosier's importance to the O-line. He's the Cowboys' most consistent lineman and definite their best interior lineman. The coaches agree.

The coaches agree? Please show me the evidence of that, not something some former scout says.

If the coaches agree, he'll be making more money that Bigg and Gurode and his contract won't be up after this year. Jerry won't have included his name with Flo this last offseason as one of the players we have to see what we're getting out of and if it's feasible to keep them on the team.

I know Ron Wolfe liked him. He said if the Cowboys had 22 guys like Kosier they could win the Super Bowl.

Coach Ron Wolfe?

Kosier regularly grades out as the most consistent O-linemen, according to both coaches and pundits.

Are you certain you want to pursue this line of argumentation?

Because, if you do and you follow it to its logical end, you must also conclude that Roy Williams is a better receiver than Miles Austin because the Cowboys have yet to extend Austin and Williams' contract is substantially more lucrative.

Of course Jerry wants to scrutinize Kosier's play; dude is over thirty and his contract is almost up.

After what we witnessed in 2008 and Saturday night's preseason game, you can't honestly believe Holland should be starting over Kosier. That's absurd.

If you want to discount Ron Wolfe's opinion that's your business, but he is a highly respected figure in the NFL.

Pundit Brian Broadus yeah! Again show me for the coaches. I'm an avid follower of Cowboys news and I never once saw where they insinuated that.

And Austin will be. He's a must sign. He will be making more than Roy soon. Kosier on the other end is expendable and might not even be on the team next year. You think we won't be trying hard to extend our best interior lineman? Especially when his contract demands won't be more than half of what we're paying to the 2 other interior bums he plays with?

Of course Jerry wants to scrutinize Kosier's play; dude is over thirty and his contract is almost up.

He's also an average player. There was a reason he didn't mention Gurode and Bigg in those conversations. His contract was almost up has nothing to do with that. Flo had a lot left on his. Him having lil time on his contract left is more reason to let it play out and keep him for depth purposes.

He played very well in the Sandiego game. His play hasn't been all that different from Kosier's in the first couple of games.

Coach Jerry Jones?

No, GM Jerry Jones. Across the league, those guys have a lot to do with player operations or so I've been told. Performance also has a lot to do with that but I just might be naive.

It's not just Broadus. Mosely has reported the same assessment from a variety of scouts.

You may be an avid follower, but you seem to be a selective follower.

But he's not. Again, this is your logic we're following. Not mine. You're the one who suggested that a player's salary is necessarily indicative of their worth to the team. And, currently Williams makes far more than Austin, and Barber makes far more than Jones.

I would also argue that Jerry Jones is taking a wait-and-see approach with Austin's situation, hence the lack of a new contract. Jones took precisely the same tact with Romo in 2007. Romo didn't sign a new contract until November, only after the Cowboys were certain he could maintain his level of play.

He's also an average player. There was a reason he didn't mention Gurode and Bigg in those conversations. His contract was almost up has nothing to do with that. Flo had a lot left on his. Him having lil time on his contract left is more reason to let it play out and keep him for depth purposes.
Kosier may be an average player; however, the bottom line is this: he's the most consistent player on the interior of the line, hence the deficiencies in pass protection when he's absent.

Now, let's consider your "best O-line":

LT: Free LG: Holland C: Gurode RG: Davis RT:Baron

This is essentially the same line that started the game Saturday night. The results were thus:

-- Multiple sacks on Tony Romo in a half.

-- Less than a hundred yards of total offense in a half.

-- Less than 15 yards rushing for the entire game.

Dude. Seriously?
