Kyle Long: Smith and Booker are serious advantages for the Cowboys

Add Beebe and the Cowboys interior OL is set for a long long time! Many pro bowl years ahead.
Unfortunately unless the tackles step up we will be having happy feet Dak, Guyton is error prone and injury prone , Terence is what he is, poor pass blocker , above average run blocker . It’s not easy to hide both tackles against decent defenses , especially with game on the line.

I get that. But if you look at what the Cowboys offense for most of the season last year.....

It is really hard to pay everyone including a qb 60+ a year. Guyton was never worth a 1st but he's not the worst tackle in the league. At some point the QB has to help overcome not having a HOF at every OL position. And he did just that last year, that's why he gets paid so much.

I hear ya, but on the OL, one weak link can offset good play overall as a unit.

It’s generally a lot easier to find tackles than guards, yet they’ve used two firsts on guards, a third on the C, nothing on Steele except Jerry’s belief that paying a player makes them better, and a first on Guyton, but even high picks bust. I don’t know if he will or not….theres a reason they say it takes until year three…but the major investment is inside so you’ve gotta find tackles out of what you have, or open the wallet. Seems a little backward but if Guyton isn’t a problem, this offense ought to be ok.

Well , he gets paid , since franchise QB price is up there , but it’s debatable if he is franchise QB worthy, LOL. What I am saying is that Jerry and co could have done something about this

Its debatable in the same way some people try to debate if we actually landed on the moon LOL

Yeah, it hurts us against the better defenses that can keep us from being able to help the tackles as much. Hopefully, Guyton can grow to be decent at left tackle this year.

Having the great interior line helps us to be able to keep pressure up the middle to a minimum and makes our running game something teams have to reckon with.

Uh oh, I fear for your safety. Lol. That’s some fightin words for some around here.

This is not a revelation.

Now all we need is for Jerry to find a way to screw it up. He is probably trying.

Don't move Smith to tackle.

We knew that Guyton was going to be a project. Not every player can step up in his first few years. Some take longer. Many thought Doug Free was brain damage but he really improved in about his fifth season.

I remember the criticism to guys like Dorrance Armstrong, Jourdan Lewis and Dalton Schultz. They didn't set the world on fire in their first 3-4 seasons. Some players take a little more time to develop. I haven't given up on Guyton yet.

Steele? I don't think he has been right since his injury. He was showing signs of improvement but was derailed by that injury.

I really thought they missed a golden opportunity by not signing a LT through free agency. They could have moved Guyton to RT where he would have competed against Steele.

All of our good teams were in trenches. Even the big three had trenches.
