Kyle Louis

I am a fan but we need a Mike.

Just dont see the fit here with DMo on the roster.

We'd need a 2nd to have a shot at him
His fit would be big nickle and no guarantees DMo stays healthy.

I’m at the point now where he’s my fav player in the draft, an absolute RB and TE eraser and perfect ‘Big Nickel’

He would have been the perfect 2nd round pick. I hope we find a way to get him
I like Louis a lot as well, he plays the game like Dallas great Bill Bates he is a try hard, hustle 100 percent of the time kind of player. And you are right he would be a weapon at the nickel spot, I can see it clearly, good tackler and good in coverage.

Same.

He's going to be a beast in the NFL.

Just take him at 20.

Problem solved.

Or trade back with 20.

I like Louis but people are either overrating or misunderstanding his skillet. He's a tweener LB/S with significant limits for each position. There is not a good track record of these guys being worth early picks. Take him at 92 maybe, but he's not a first-round player.

Can he stack and shed OL? No.
Can he run with WRs? No.

If he can play in space and play downhill he'll be effective, but that limits what you can do scheme-wise for a guy who has to play in the box and opportunities to make plays in that context are rare in the NFL.

I agree with some saying Louis is redundant to Overshown on this roster. Louis is a LB. You don’t want him 1 on 1 with slot WR’s as a NB and he’d be a waste in a deep zone as a S. He’s a WIL LB in a Tampa 2 that needs to be kept clean to utilize his speed.

I think you would play him as a Will with the flex to be a SS type covering zone in a nickel / dime.

Agreed, he’d probably be great in the Jayron Kearse roll Quinn used here.

Just not sure how Overshown, Louis and Thompson are on the field at the same time for the Cowboys in a base nickel

He will be there with a trade down from 20, mid to late 20's. Watching Kyle Louis film reminds me of one of my favorite all time Cowboys, the way he hustles and hits and is always around the football. Bill Bates number 40. Louis is a nickel linebacker and a nickel safety both, whatever Parker wanted to use him for. Oh yeah, I almost forgot he has great hands too, so I could see a pick 6 or two as well.

Id love thst scenario. Its my preferred one even if you remove Louis from equation.

He could be there at 92 it's possible, it depends on how the league views him, but I think he can be a Swiss army knife type player with his versatility. He can be a box safety that offers good coverage as well as good tackling skills. He could take away the short to intermediate passing game from tight ends and running backs. And help this defense get off the field on 3rd downs.

To me, he's like a Coakley/Overshown hybrid.

20 years from now, we'll still be trading him while he's still worth something.

I doubt he's there at 92.

But this "box safety" you're describing is just...a linebacker. I don't doubt he can be effective in doing that in nickel packages or whatever, but call it what it is. He's an undersized linebacker.

Good analyses, Coakley/ Overshown hybrid sounds about right to me, I like the way you think Pass2Run. A little monster in the nickel with versatility in spades. I hope Parker requests Louis in the draft, and coaches him up here in Dallas.
