Don’t think this will help Mavs much because their defense is still suspect. Also Kyrie and Luka both need to handle the ball to be effective, so something/someone will have to give.

Was hoping this was the temporary 1st arm of a second trade, but I guess not.

Well the way they are presently constructed no way no how it’s NBA title town caliber . Cuban figures it worth the risk for a team stuck in playoff treadmill purgatory

Cuban is tryin at least. He's the anti Jerry Jones of owners.
Trying? His back is against the wall due to his own bad moves. The Porzingis trade, letting Brunson walk for nothing and now this desperation. The Mavs just traded an unprotected 1st round pick in 2029 for a rental. If Doncic skips town (which is very much in play), that pick may be one of the most coveted chips in the league.

If it doesn’t work out, and it being Kyrie it probably won’t the mavs have almost enough cap space for a max contract in the offseason, so what do they really have to lose? They weren’t going anywhere with Dinwiddie and DFS anyways

No he’s not lol. He’s worse than Jerry truthfully or has been anyway. They wasted Dirks prime years being cheap and reckless. He now realizes Luka is different in makeup and will leave if he keeps this up. Now he feels pressured to trade for guys like KP and Kyrie.
