Lucky whitehead is really lucky,he has a roster spot all locked up partly because he really has no competition for the return duties now.

Beyond being visibly quicker and faster than Gus, I really didn't see anything impressive from Seastrunk. He lacked power, vision, and decisiveness. Good luck to him, but I don't think he's all that good.

They've also claimed CB Rod Sweeting off of waivers from the Bills.

Sweeting didn't even play last year. Sure he is brought in as a filler and will be let go in the next two weeks.

I read he wouldn't stick to plays - he just didn't follow what the play required him to do

The Cowboys waived wide receivers Deontay Greenberry (Houston) and Reggie Dunn (Utah), running back Lache Seastrunk (Baylor) and cornerback Brandon Smith (Arizona State).

The Cowboys signed all three players they worked out just after their Thursday morning walk-through practice: wide receivers Phil Bates (Ohio) and Edmond Gates (Abilene Christian) and linebacker Dakorey Johnson (Kansas State).

The Cowboys also claimed cornerback Rod Sweeting off of waivers from the Buffalo Bills. Sweeting (6-0, 187) went undrafted in 2013 out of Georgia Tech. He played in nine games last season for the New Orleans Saints and had three tackles.

I would have just used him for the SF game, then released him. Why replace one camp fodder with another now?
So the next camp fodder gets some valuable game reps against some real competition. No point in keeping him here when you can use the spot to evaluate someone else. They can bring Seastrunk back at anytime, nobody is going to claim him.
