We're screwed.

Hoping some of this gets thresh out this summer

Thanks for your post. It's good to realize, after the draft and free agency moves this year, this team still has some weaknesses, and areas to upgrade, although I like Vaughn as the backup QB, he has some skill. Because if we don't have posts like this, we'll only think our team is a SUPER BOWL LOCK! This offseason has been the absolute best I can remember in multiple decades.

If Dallas gets Adrian Peterson somehow, if Dallas does anything less than CRUSH the AFC champs in the Super Bowl, it will be a massive dissapointment.

DT and Safety are pluggable in this scheme, assuming other studs at the position are healthy. Quarterback would be a disaster, even though I think Vaughn beats out Weeden for the backup spot. But most teams are screwed if their starting quarterback goes down, unless they just don't have a good starting quarterback to begin with.

Good job with keeping perspective.
I hoping Vaughn beats out Weeden too.
The better news we have
Good depth everywhere else

Well. most teams would be SOL if they lost their franchise QB. Not many teams have proven Quarterbacks waiting to play if the starter goes down. I hope Vaughn improved quite a bit to the point where we can cut Weeden.
Our safety depth is up in the air atm, but we have Jones and White as two newly acquired guys that may be able to play FS if one of Church or Wilcox goes down.
Uh, losing Hayden might be a blessing in disguise, sans for Rod. Still got Coleman and Bishop on the extended roster to see what they can bring to the team this year.

We are only screwed if Romo goes down. The rest are minor.

Who exactly would it be that would make our depth behind Romo so called really good? Sure if we were the GB Packers back in the day with Farve starting and Aaron Rodgers behind him.

As it is with most teams, at least (lock on one receiver ) Weeden had logged in some NFL starts.

In this day and age of salary caps it is near impossible to have quality depth across the board. Looking at safety there are others besides Heath who can play at safety if need be. Cory White heck who is to say Byron Jones could not fill in at safety in a pinch.

Jones is the primary backup at S if a long term injury occurs to either Church or Wilcox.

Bishop is probably better than Hayden anyways. People's complaint at 1T isn't deoth, it's a lack of a really good player.

The only teams that aren't screwed when their QB goes down are the ones without a Franchise QB.

This team has solid depth across nearly the entire team now.

Romo is the only one that matters of that trio. But I am slightly encouraged from the news of Weeden getting better coaching and the promise of Vaughn.

No big deal. What if Russell Wilson goes down, Earl Thomas, and Bennett? Same problem.

Depth at safety does concern me as I feel that neither Heath or McCray are capable backups. Both are special teams only contributors who I feel are liabilities if actually tasked with playing the safety position. I'm hoping to find upgrades over both.

There is no team 100% in depth across the board. Every team in the NFL has depth issues at 2-3 positions. Safety is not too much of a concern because of the flex we have with White and Jones.

Oh what the loose goose. Sorry man, it's hard for me to read your post when you emphasize your key word like that.

Nontheless, no team is perfect. I'm sure if any other teams starting QB goes down, they'll be losing also. At least we have a starting QB unlike the Browns and Jets (just to name a few). At the other "positions of weakness" we have what we are calling position flex. With the addition of some guys in the off season we can now plug in someone with experience at the same position. Would I like to have both 1st and 2nd teams to be starting material? Yes of course! But I'll take what we have now than what we didn't have a couple years ago. We are better.

I agree. And Ray McDonald is always a slap, er, a call away if we get in a pinch.

Ducks.
