why dont more HS and Universities offer this sport?

i grew up in Texas and never played, but I used to watch it on ESPN when I was younger. It is quite an entertaining sport to watch.

When I was in college, we had an intramural team that would compete with intramural teams from other schools.

It would be neat to see schools across the nation playing it. Heck, I would even like to see a Pro Lacrosse League.

There are actually two pro lacrosse leagues.

The National Lacrosse League is played indoors, and has 12 teams. Major League Lacrosse is outdoors and has 10 teams. Most of the teams are on the East Coast. MLL has teams in Denver, SF, and LA. NLL has three teams in Canada, then Denver, San Jose and Portland in the Western states.

and none in Texas....i guess they dont get any television exposure except locally. the only time i ever see lacrosse on tv is when the NCAA has the tournament.

Forget about any universities adding any male sports. Title IX is killing wrestling and has pretty much killed mens gymnastics. Among others.

I am all about equality for women, both academically and athletically, but Title IX is just plain stupid. They wanted something to take away the oppression of women, but added something that oppresses men. Why not find a way to take away the oppression of women, without oppressing men at the same time. There shouldn't be a rule that makes schools have to have equal athletic programs for both genders.

BTW....why take away men's programs......other than football and hockey, schools can have sports for both genders.

Football
Hockey
M Baseball
W Softball
M/W Basketball
M/W Tennis
M/W Track and Cross Country
M/W Volleyball
M/W Swimming/Diving
M/W Water Polo
M/W Lacrosse
M/W Golf
M/W Rifle
M/W Soccer
M/W Wrestling

and there are many more based on the region that you live......

There are only three reasons I can think of for not having what you listed.
  • They don't have enough money to sponsor all of those sports.
  • They have enough money but don't want to spend it. OR
  • They have enough money, are willing to spend it, but don't have enough people wanting to participate.

im not saying u have to have every sport....im saying if the funds are there, the athletes are there, and the fan support is there.....add the sport.

Sorry, I should have made it more clear that I didn't mean all of those sports. When I start writing/typing a thought down, sometimes I forget to reread it to make sure it is clear.

But back to the topic, I meant that they probably wouldn't add a sport using one of those reasons.

They have womens hockey.

I know @ Arizona State Univ. they just scrapped the mens wrestling and gymnastics teams.
