Ruggs was getting going his 2nd year before the manslaughter. He probably would have been as good as Aiyuk or close. Outside of being fast, he was pretty smooth too. One thing with him going that high, he doesnt have the type of game or build to be a volume guy like Tyreek Hill. So he was likely never going to be worth passing more complete WR's
Yeah I get why Ruggs took Lamb. I wouldn't have been upset at all if we had got Ruggs. I thought we would honestly. I thought Lamb and Judy would go before Ruggs.

I seen his entire career at Oklahoma. I was doing cart wheels when he fell to us. I knew what we were getting, I was tired of seeing him destroy my Longhorns.
You were advocating for us to draft Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

Minnesota fans are like, "yeah, nice job with the Lamb pick, Cowboys."

Oh of course. You can always play that game whenever the best player in the draft doesn't go first. If you got a great player, you did great.

The Raiders selected DUI manslaughter WR Henry Ruggs and Denver selected Jerry Jeudy, bypassing college football's best, Cee Dee Lamb. Lady Luck put Cee Dee in the hands of the Big D!!

This is Lamb's fourth season. In 1991, the other playmaker Michael Irvin helped the Cowboys to an 11-5 record and a return to the playoffs by hauling in 93 passes for a league-leading 1,523 yards and 8 touchdowns. He received consensus All-Pro honors that year and earned the first of five straight Pro Bowl trips.

Cee Dee is on a roll. Jake Ferguson adds toughness to the Cowboys' offense with 71 catches, several worthy of never-ending highlights. Did we miss Dalton Schultz?
Who is this Dalton you speak of?
Did he play for the Cowboys at some point?

I was on the Ruggs Train choo chooing my heart out. The thought of Lamb never even crossed my mind because I thought he would be long gone. I thought Juedy was a remote possibility

Yeah, that's a huge stroke of luck. The Eagles wanted him bad. I wouldn't be surprised if they were desperately trying to trade up to get him, but no one agreed to a trade. Thank goodness. Way back when, the Cowboys were all set to draft Jerry Rice, but the 49ers traded up to take him. Made me hate the 9ers even more than I already did. In the 70s, I forget which year, the Cowboys were planning on drafting Lynn Swann, but the Steelers were drafting right in front of us. The Steelers ALMOST screwed up and missed their draft spot. They got in with seconds to spare. One wonders what the Cowboys would have done with Lynn Swann and later with Jerry Rice. At least this time with CeeDee, we're the team that got the prized wide receiver. Some stinkin' rival didn't move up to swipe him before us.

yeah just doesn’t happen that often (in my mind) only other one that springs to mind is jj and tyron. extra rare for same position. i’d love jefferson on the cowboys obviously, have just got to enjoy ceedee too much to care

Snatching CeeDee Lamb in the draft was a stroke of genius, especially with the Eagles poised to take him. To think he was so close to being on the other side of our storied rivalry only adds to the sweet victory of watching him don the star on his helmet.

His emergence as a premier receiver in his fourth season has been a boon for us, giving us the kind of offensive weapon that other teams can only envy.

Every time Lamb makes a play, we're reminded of how fortunate we are that he ended up with the Cowboys. His talent could have easily been a thorn in our side, but instead, he's the one causing headaches for defenses across the league. The Eagles' near miss has become our treasure, and Lamb's performances are proof that sometimes the draft is about more than just picking the right player—it's about luck and timing too.

CeeDee Lamb is not just a player; he's a reminder that sometimes the stars align perfectly, and for the Cowboys, they aligned in the form of a wide receiver who is quickly becoming an icon in Dallas.

CD isn't a diva like JJ. CD has had lackadaisical playcalling before and all he's done is come out and said "hey guys, just throw me the ball". You literally see JJ screaming and hollering on the sidelines when he's not getting his way. CD > JJ at this point. But they have a lot to go.

I think you have to be a really big homer to believe that CeeDee is better than Jefferson at this point in their careers.

Yeah, the Eagles tried to trade with the Falcons to jump us and take CeeDee. The Falcons wanted CB AJ Terrell, and would have lost him if they did that deal.

...And Gil Brandt drafted Big Ten defensive player of the year, DL, Kevin Brooks out of Michigan (the school which produced Taco Charlton and Mazi Smith), who was a huge bust and helped seal Tom Landry's fate, with no stars produced from first rounders in 1981, 1982, 1985, 1987, with injuries wiping out 1984 LB Cannon and 1985 WR Sherrard. Only Jim Jeffcoat in 1983 proved to be worthwhile, until Brandt and Landry on their NFL deathbeds picked Michael Irvin in 1988, and then the new regime with the first overall pick selected Troy Aikman.

The CeeDee pick was one of my favorite cowboy picks in recent years and my favorite player
As a fan you can hope the war room makes good choices to improve your team and it’s a bonus if you get the player you wanted

That was a great draft in 2020 then we got Micah in 21 but pretty average beyond that maybe OSA is serviceable but not a star

I loved the 22 draft one of my favorites and it’s really no secret my disdain for the 23 draft hopefully things end up ok but as of now for this fan it reeks of 2017.
