Twitter: Lamb Blindside Block

a blindside block “is a foul if a player initiates a block in which he is moving toward or parallel to his own end line and makes forcible contact to his opponent with his helmet, forearm, or shoulder.”

by the letter of the law it is a blindside block and the correct call. Stand like a statue or move out of the way

I think they said it was because Lamb was facing the wrong direction (towards the opposite goal line) when blocking. It looked good to me, but I guess that's the rule.

So how do you have a blindside block on the front? This ain't the first time this has happened to Lamb. His first college game had the same thing.

Apparently, you can't block a guy in this position while moving towards you own endzone. I think it's hard to say CeeDee was moving at all, he posted up and laid the shot from a standing position.

Interesting details about this rule... I agree with @nightrain , it needs to be tweaked IMO.

So if Lamb had turned his back to him and then the defender ran into him, that would make it an illegal block in the back (above the waist) based on the rules, right? :D
That's actually the only way the nfl will let you block though. Lamb needed to turn back towards the sideline/goal-line and just get in his way.

This looks to me like the same block that Golden Tate laid on Sean Lee ??
