Tom Landry's influence is permanently woven into the foundation, and identity of the Dallas Cowboys. He built an institution over his nearly 30 year reign as HC for the team. His style and personality is forever ingrained in the Cowboys roots. That never goes away. It's bigger than Jerry. He set the bar, and the standard has never been met with the exception of Johnson. The Cowboys are a unique organization, it's a large personality type of place. Until Jerry can share that space, I remain skeptical about our future coaching success. We need a coach with a dynamic and bold presence. The type that changes the mood when he enters the room and is not "one of the guys".

Do these coaches exist? Who are they?

I would love to see prime Tom Landry coaching this team, especially the defense. I am curious what he could do with it.

Thank you voicing something that I haven't put into words. Jimmy Johnson could have replaced that great icon but unfortunately the glory couldn't be divided

Jerry Jones killed all of this man. The fans that are holding onto this just haven’t accepted the reality that it is long gone. It was killed by Jerry Jones and his entire family
Yea I can't see anything left from the Landry era still with this team. I had so much respect for the organization back then. The organization is a joke now.

Agreed. And that’s what makes me hate Jerry and his family so much. We were a well respected and feared franchise. The best and the top of the top when it came to the NFL. Now they are a laughingstock. The punchline to every joke. They are made fun of by everybody in the league

People claim Jerry is such a marketing genius, but I'll always say the team he has today is only so popular because of the Landry days.

If Jerry had bought the Chargers like he wanted to, people would barely know his name.
very true
look at the Pats
even nearly a generation of winning Lombardi's and contending nearly every year, they have never reached the level of the Boys.

I don't think players care about winning anymore. I'm sure some still do. I'm sure we all remember Irvin talking about players that were just there for the check. I think there are a lot more of them playing now.

My loyalty to Tom Landry and Roger Staubach along with Ernie stautner and Bob Lilly and many of the other great Cowboys of the '70s is why I still remain loyal to this team.
Those Great Men represented everything good about football and sports they created America's team and exemplified winning.

Not sure why I watched this farce anymore I guess when I see Roger sitting up in the box watching I feel like it's my duty to keep watch too.
When Roger stops watching then I believe I am done with this horrible product that isn't even a reasonable facsimile of my old Cowboys
